Gordon: Alright everything’s all set, now... To turn on the laser.

*He flicks the small switch watching the crystal glow slightly in response to the beam. A few seconds pass a a ringing note starts coming from the crystal.*

Gordon: ...Wow... It’s like it’s singing... Like... A call of some kind...

Benrey: Like... It’s calling for something? Some one?

*As they watch it the crystal sounds like it’s getting louder and louder.*

Benrey: Bro... That doesn’t sound right-

*Suddenly the lab is plunged into darkness, the crystal crackling with a strange green energy.*

Gordon: Shit! We should stop this thing!

*For the briefest of moments there is a portal that opens up, a chilling voice coming through for the lab to hear.*

*And just as quickly as it opened up, the portal closes.

The emergency lights come on.*

Gordon: W-well... I wasn’t expecting any of that... What was-

*He glances at the work station.*

Gordon: SHIT! The crystal is broken! Dammit!

*The crystal is broken into many pieces, none of which are large enough to attempt to do anything with the laser again.*

Benrey: You got this Gordon!

Gordon: Gosh this is scary... Alright time to test.

*Gordon steps into the chamber. Benrey pauses, back straightening before following into the chamber, eyes glazing over. Gordon doesn’t notice him, making final preparations in the chamber.*

Gordon: Alright we’re good to go! Pushing the sample under where the laser will go.

Voxis: Excellent.

*They grin before they turn on the laser.*

Gordon: Wh- Wait! I’m still in here!

*Benrey and Gordon cover their ears as the crystal makes a piercing shriek that only they can hear.*

Gordon: Shit! Shit it’s so loud! Turn it off!

*There is a crackling and roar as the crystal turns green with energy before exploding violently, the walls shake and parts of the building crumble down. Emergency sirens fill the air. Gordon gets trapped under the debris.

The lights go out and sirens cease, plunging the facility into darkness and silence.

Everything is far too still...*

Benrey: Room 217! Home sweet home! Know it looks like it’s sups small but actually it’s bigger on the inside some Black Mesa craziness or something.

*He lets you all into the room and it truly is bigger on the inside. Plenty of beanbags and couches for all of you.*

Benrey: Make yourselves at home! Gonna get some comfy clothes for me and Gordo here.

Gordon: Do you have a hoodie I could borrow?

Benrey: Yeah sure one sec. *He rifles through his drawers before tossing some clothes at Gordon.*

Gordon: ...Thanks... I’m going to go get changed... *He heads into Benrey’s bathroom.*
