I don't know how to tag this but it's not nice to a newborn and new mom so have care.
When Garvina gave birth to Dija the midwives took him and did what they normally did for any newborn babe. They declared him a girl (AFAB) and about as healthy as any newborn babe could be. Garvina expected to be able to see her child, hold him, but was not allowed to.
I repeat, the midwives did not allow a first time mother to hold her newborn baby. Not even Dija's father Verjuis was given that right. Instead their child was immediately taken from them to be stuffed into a nursery pod and Garvina was shoved into a regen tank.
The cruelty was the point.
