vermilious replied to your post: brklynbreed: Stop chasing people. If they block...
i feel like people are to really turn this into blockers/ignorers being assholes but like sometimes people just wanna be left alone and you gotta respect that too. if someone wants to be alone you gotta leave ‘em alone. don’t track people down cause they don’t wanna talk. i’ve had people do that to me and it’s really creepy and kinda violating
If you warn people yes. But if you just disappear without even telling someone that you need some space (especially blocking them ???), that you need to be by yourself for a while, etc. , no offence but that’s selfish and shitty. You’re making the person worry about you, feel like they have done something wrong, give them anxiety, potentially even affect them so much, that they are scared to make friends or just get close to someone. Which is what this post is trying to say (I think), that if someone does that to you, they aren’t worth your time and even if it’s hard, learning to let go of these kind of people is for the best.
@vermilious replied: i found them from really being in the mood for singing competition shows but the voice usa didn't have full seasons up to watch for free but I knew One Direction came from a singing competition so I tracked it down and found 1D's and Little Mix's seasons on dailymotion. Oddly enough I'm not a big one direction fan but it didn't take me long to love Little Mix. I think they were dropping Salute around the time I was watching it. also for the past 2 weeks i've been thinking about watching their season again so maybe your text post is a sign haha and yeah tbh i think the judges were a little out of touch. some of their looks reminded me of stuff disney used to make miley or selena wear on their tv shows... so not only was the aesthetic weird but it was also a little dated. i don't think the older people in the music industry have truly grasped that there's a market for people after the age of like 17. not all 20 year olds need to be pitched to 2 year olds i mean :/
I love reading how everyone got into little mix <3 I did when they performed with taylor, whom I’ve adored since my teens. that drove me to search for a better quality vid of them performing black magic (the james corden one :) and then their x-factor journey where I completely fell in love
I was a huge fan of the voice back then, and really liked that, even though they had epic, huge performances sometimes, they weren’t afraid of the quiet moments; simple ballads and acapella ones too. ones that create an intimacy and vulnerability that could so beautifully shine a light to incredible talent, and be stand-out moments
I think there’s a general misconception that mainstream only contains powerhouse vocals and big loud and long notes. that that and showy productions are the sure way to catch people’s attention and win it all. I’m not saying it isn’t effective at times, but it’s a formula producers try to copy and paste onto different people which, as it happens with artistry, doesn’t always work, at least without adjustments.
in this case they’d mashed that up with trying to make it bubbly, over the top colorful, and cheesy af. and, as you said, it’s so over-reaching to a demographic that’s not the only thing out there, and surely not the only one you need to win such a thing.
yes, the girls were young. and sweet. and lovely. but they were also fierce and tough and edgy, and I’m so damn grateful they fought tooth and nail to show it whenever possible (like with don’t let go and e.t.) and that they tried and keep on trying to show you don’t need to box yourself up in an adjective or a type to make it and express yourself, but a wonderful mix of them :)

yeah i'm really worried they're, especially perrie, going to get permanent vocal chord damage. i'm surprised we got Glory Days as soon as we did - i thought it was going to come like 6 months to a year later. they deserve a bigger album release date gap
yes, her vocals have been pretty rough lately. and it’s a testament to the fandom here that the complaints about it haven’t been directed at her, or disappointed at their performance, but at management for pushing them endlessly
same, we hadn’t even gotten the get weird tour dvd, that’s the launch we were waiting for! the album came too soon with little purpose. looking back I truly believe the set-up to get weird was the best done of all.
and in all honesty, many things about how glory days has been handled really bothered me and tainted my enthusiasm about it. I haven’t watched nearly as many performances, concert clips, or rewatched music videos on a loop as I did with gw...
vermilious replied to your post “leighanne-pinnock: honestly little mix need to go on another hiatus...”
agreed. you can tell it's really needed just by listening to Perrie's voice at the beginning of Power alone
yes, the strain is clear in their voices and it’s not only bad for now but could be dangerous for later too
and time-wise a record a year is simply not ideal or necessary. it’d give them more time and space to do covers, different versions and many more appearances promoting stuff too
@vermilious replied:
i've watched that like 3 times haha / that's probably like 2 and a half weeks of my life. and same the aesthetic pushed on them bugged me and the themes really controlled who they were
same! I watch it every once in a while cause I get nostalgic, or feel like re-watching a specific performance and end up going through the whole thing lol
I wasn’t on the fandom then, but I imagine it must’ve been a general thought that they were trying to package them up as what they thought their demographic would like, instead of what was intrinsic to them and their style (I mean, I’m thinking this as a 24 year-old, but I don’t think then 18 year-old me would’ve love that either)

uhh this is so tough cause that album is practially flawless
I’d have to go with move, because it’s the song that got me obssessed with the girls, and it never fails to make me happy. also that music video is still epic and so aesthetically pleasing
