She tapped Eva's shoulder after settling Andres on her hip. "Hey, come upstairs. Mom said she had a surprise for us."
Andres clutched the shoulder of his mother's shirt and smiled at his aunt, chirping, "C'mon, tía!" He giggled when Agata turned and smooshed his cheek.
Agata grinned and jerked her head towards the stairs. "Let's get going. I'm honestly dying to know what she did."
Upstairs in the living room, Carmilla set the woman's luggage aside and smiled, chuckling, "I told them to hurry. But, well, Agata has to wrangle a toddler."
"That's all right," Marta replied, her accent thick. "I'm just excited to see them after so many years. I haven't seen them since they were eleven or so."

HE WOULDN'T ADMIT that much was a relief. While he didn't really suspect that she was getting sick of him despite his frequent visits (he didn't travel much in the winter, and thus was around far more than usual) Maurice was still the type of person who needed to hear it firsthand. Especially in this case. He didn't linger in places long, and yet there he was. Right at home in the shop. With her.
"Can't blame a guy for checking," he said with a shrug, and yet his smile spoke volumes as he watched her approach with their drinks. "I've been called a mooch a few times an' I'd rather not continue the habit."
Maurice couldn't say he entirely agreed with the title, but he could also understand where it had come from. "I've also been told I have a way with animals. Can't really explain that one though."

Stopping at the gas station had been the last thing on her mind while on the way to pick up Andres from her sister's house but after a full day at a teacher's conference since seven in the morning and then having a meeting with the other teachers from her school, she needed some caffeine to make it through the rest of the day.
But it was while she getting her coffee that she saw a figure out of the corner of her eye. Instinctively, she tensed and looked at the person but then she paused, realizing the face was...very familiar. "Lily?"

OF COURSE HE had come right along. As if he could say no. Nevermind that he found himself looking for more excuses to be around his friend, but autumn was his favorite season as well. The colors, the excuse to play sappy music and drink all the tea he wanted. Not to mention he could don his favorite hoodies and boots.
Sure some might have said he looked like a punk, the complete opposite of Mellie as they walked along, but he didn't care. He was...pretty content. Happy, really.
So much so he had nearly missed what she said, and had to bite down the first response that jumped into his head. "One of them, yeah. Some people think this season is all the start of death and decay, but I think 's brilliant."

The initial plan had been to drive across the state to visit her sister at college. And, well, Andres had been incredibly good about waking up early for the journey. However, a wrench was thrown in the plans when her car hit a stray board, leading to a burst tire on the side of the road in the countryside. Agata groaned, head falling forward to rest against the steering wheel.
"What's wrong, mami?" Andres asked from his car seat.
"Oh, just a messed up tire, mijo. I'll fix it, don't worry." She'd changed plenty of car tires in her time. It was while she was pulling the spare tire from the trunk that she saw another vehicle approaching.

"SO, THEORITICALLY speaking, if I had gotten tickets t' a concert tonight would that be a good or bad thing?" The question came, and yet he didn't move from his leaning position on the counter. The very image of serenity, even if his eyes were curious.
And, yes, he knew Mellie probably saw right through him but he didn't care. What he didn't mention was that it happened to be a band that the shopkeeper herself was fond of.
