      fenris’  voice  is  hard  --  how  can  it  not  be  ?  the  very  implication  that  hawke  would  be  --  no,  it  simply  was  not  allowed.  it  was  not  allowed,  because  fenris  could  not  accept  it. “  you  --  i  won’t  allow  it.  ”  he  steps  forward,  reaches  up  to  clutch  at  hawke’s  arm.  “  i  won’t  lose  you  again.  ”

      he  pauses.  then,  in  case  he  never  gets  to  say  it  at  all,  he  continues.  “  i  can’t  lose  you  again.  ”
