additional inquisitor fenris notes. he will not "conscript" allies, nor deliberately put them in other positions where they would arguably be unable to leave. he has spent the last few years hunting down slavers and freeing slaves, and he will not be the one who forces someone to obey his will. 

he is not completely trusting of mages, but he is more trusting of them than he used to be in the past. this is why he can interact with solas or even dorian without constantly being aggressive towards them. time heals all wounds they say, and this is true for fenris too. without danarius looming over his shoulder, he can learn that not all mages are like danarius -- 

still, he will be very against blood magic, demons, and he will not be so forgiving of those who make use of it for any reason -- in fact, he only allies with the grey wardens instead of banishing them because no one else can stop the blight. he does not speak kindly to them or of them after here lies the abyss. 

also he still hates tevinter, it’s a personal grudge and no he will not let it go

      “  merrill.  ”  he  dips  his  head  slightly  in  greeting,  and  smiles  ever  so  slightly  --  and  surprisingly,  finds  himself  glad  to  have  her  present.  despite  his  personal  feelings  about  her  uses  of  blood  magic  in  the  past,  fenris  can’t  help  but  prefer  turning  to  merrill  over  morrigan  --  merrill  may  have  made  choices  that  fenris  finds  questionable  at  best,  but  at  least  he  feels  he  understands  what  he  might  expect  her  to  do.

      if  nothing  else,  he  feels  her  desire  to  help  is  genuine,  that  if  she  presents  any  danger,  it  is  only  unwittingly. 

      fenris  can  live  with  that. 

      “  i’m  .  .  .  pleased  to  see  you  accepted  varric’s  invitation.  i  --  ”  he  pauses,  struggling  to  find  words  to  continue.  “  i  appreciate  your  presence  here.  ”      /      @ourdawncomes​      ❤’d

      “  i  have  travelled  to  many  places,  but  somehow,  i’ve  never  made  it  to  antiva.  would  you  mind  telling  me  what  it  is  like,  lady  astoria  ?  ”  it  is  part  genuine  curiosity  that  fuels  his  line  of  questioning,  and  it  is  an  attempt  to  fill  the  silence  all  at  once.     /      @carelessgraces​      ❤’d

     “  it’s  been  awhile,  isabela.  ”  the  smile  that  spreads  across  his  face  is  slight,  but  bright  --  genuine,  rather  than  one  of  those  plastered  on  ones  he’s  reserved  for  josephine’s  noble  guests.  “  taverns  haven’t  been  the  same  without  you,  truly.  ”  he’s  only  half  -  joking.  “  captaincy  looks  good  on  you.  ”      /      @chaotiicgoods​      ❤’d

      “  vivienne  makes  her  opinion  of  the  circles  known,  but  what  do  you  think,  henrik  ?  you  spent  some  time  in  one  as  well,  did  you  not  ?  ”  head  tilts  slightly  as  he  speaks.  henrik  is  much  more  soft  -  spoken  than  many  of  the  other  mages  fenris  has  ever  met,  and  certainly  more  soft  -  spoken  than  many  of  the  mages  at  skyhold.  fenris  wonders  if  it’s  a  scholar  trait,  or  just  a  henrik  trait  --  it’s  unclear  to  him.  after  all,  fenris  has  not  met  too  many  scholars;  he  tends  to  find  himself  surrounded  by  adventure  and  loud  characters.      /      @seahaloed​      ❤’d

      “  as  a  bard,  you  have  some  experience  with  the  ‘  game  ’  ,  yes  ?  ”  all  of  this  political  nonsense  was  beyond  him,  truly.  he  was  far  more  adapt  in  simply  eliminating  problems  --  he  didn’t  really  care  for  subtleties,  and  never  had.  both  josephine  and  leliana  had  told  him  he  needed  to  work  on  that  --  but  it  was  not  his  skillset.  and  they’d  told  him  to  recruit,  too,  hadn’t  they  ? 

      this  counted  for  both,  right  ?  (  well,  he  knew  they  meant  for  these  to  be  two  separate  things,  but  he  was  going  to  act  like  he  didn’t.  )  “  if  you’re  looking  to  put  your  talents  to  use,  the  inquisition  would  welcome  you.  ”      /      @historysung​      ❤’d

      “   i   --  could  i  ask  something  of  you,  cassandra  ?  it’s  .  .  .  about  writing  the  report  for  this  mission.  ”  it’s  .  .  .  humiliating  that  he  has  to  ask  for  help  with  this  at  all,  but  he  thinks  it  may  be  more  humiliating  to  submit  reports  with  so  many  words  that  he  does  not  actually  know  how  to  spell.  spoken  common  he  knows  well,  and  written,  he  can  read  well,  but  writing  it  is  .  .  .  far  more  complicated.      /      @seekerdivine​      ❤’d

      “  i  did  not  think  we  would  meet  again,  after  what  happened  in  kirkwall  --  or  that  you  would  be  yourself  once  more.  i  am  .  .  .  glad  to  see  you  are  whole  again.  ”  to  think  that  once,  fenris  had  thought  tranquility  to  be  an  act  of  mercy  --  he’d  been  wrong.  not  every  mage  that  was  given  this  treatment  had  earned  it,  and  he  was  not  to  admit  that  he’d  been  wrong.  but  --  those  days  seem  so  long  ago,  now.  it  seems  many  of  his  kirkwall  compatriots  are  getting  caught  up  in  this.
