Alien Stage Verse TW including: ED, loss of bodily autonomy, genetic disease, SA
Headcanon: Besides the classic “Alien Stage” where humans perform songs, there are several other kinds of competitions on other stages that popped up a few years after its success. One of these other types is “Alien Stage: Dance”, where the humans compete against each other with different kinds of dances. Those can be one-on-one, in pairs or in groups, depending on the contest/season.
Seraphina was specifically bred to excel on “Alien Stage: Dance” for Solo Acts. Her genes were modified and she was born with EDS (Ehlers-Danlos-Syndrome). This disease weakens the connective tissue. It leads to hypermobility on one side, which allows for aesthetic lines and extensions that others struggle to achieve, and on the other side to an increased risk of injury, chronic joint pain and early arthrosis.
The Aliens aren’t concerned about any of this, of course - if a human gets injured, they get discarded and replaced. This way, many dancers don’t even make it to the stage. Some of them take more care of their possessions than others and have them do a mix of extensive muscle building and different ways to warm up from an early age. Usually, good management for breaks would be needed, but this is ignored, since the dancers won’t make it to an older age anyways (Literally working them to the bone).
Seraphina won the season she competed in, season 44 of “Alien Stage: Dance”, which took place around the same time as season 49 of “Alien Stage”. Besides this, she has also been involved in the pet human industry where she was forced to entertain Aliens, mostly by dancing for them, or worse. Her heightened flexibility and popularity made her a heavy target for SA. Her Guardian forbade anything that would be visible or break any bones, but that was the extend of it.
A few years after her win, she was rescued by the Resistance. She is still struggling with a heavy ED, where she lives on a calorie deficit, but forces down enough nutrients to keep her muscles strong and the injury risk lower.
a random thought would there be a seperate alien stage for dance competitions? Because that's where I would see Sera in, rather than singing
@daemoniism : I will be good to you. Please, I promise. ( Luka to Sera )
Could she really believe him? The devil wearing the face of an angel, the manipulator who stepped over so many to come out on top? It was despicable, but at the same time, she couldn't fault him. He didn't decide to live in this system, none of them did. He was just best at surviving in it, whatever it cost. If anything, maybe she even envied him for using all the tools in his disposal without regret, putting his life above anything else.
Now why would she be any different from the bodies making out the stairs he needed to walk on to get to the top? Just another corpse under his feet. Right?
"Why-..." Her voice sounded hoarse. "Why do you want that?" Why would he want her? The question didn't dare leave her lips. It would be easier for him to not care, to just see her as what she was: competition. There would only be one winner. He knew that. Or maybe he was so certain he would win that he took pity on her? Some charity in her last moments? Or a trick, to make her love him, so if they ever faced against each other, she would happily die for him? Oh, how she wanted to despise him, him and his schemes, but she just couldn't do it.
She pulled her hands out of his and lowered her head. If she looked at his pleading, golden eyes any longer, she feared she would just give in and give him anything he would ask of her. Her heart, her soul, her life. "Don't play with me...", she whispered.
