I think Spellbinder's message is about depression and lost of motivation, actually... And how the environment around you can kill creativity, like child abuse, capitalism, overworking yourself, ambitions, and people who think they can cheat creativity.

All of the Spellbinders are dreamers, they are very creative and they each love art in their own ways. Writing, Gaming, Music, those are the three main Spellbinder locations, each representing something different. Lux is based after books and some TTRPGs, both art in their own right, while the other two (can't quite remember their names rn) are video games and music respectively.

Ben is incredibly creative, it's suggest he's the one making the drawings throughout the entire book, he's a Spellbinder because he's creative, he loves writing, loves TTRPGs, loves video games and loves music. He IS creativity, he is THE Spellbinder, and all of his magic seems to just suddenly atone to what he wants despite what he writes down, and no matter how violent something is he writes down, because he doesn't actually want to hurt anyone, because it's just fun and games. The magic bends to his will, and because he saw his magic system as a "Leveling Up!" system, he was forced to use weaker spells and slowly grow stronger throughout the books.

The end of the book suggests that magic represents creativity, and art, that Ben could have magic despite the fact he doesn't physically have it because he's always been magical, he just needed to let it out, and let it free. There are many factors that can kill creativity, and Ben removed all of those factors at the end, the only thing he needed to remove was his own barriers, then he could actually be free to create without hurting himself, and he could be free to create whilst showing others.

Cash is the opposite, yet also very similar. They would've been an incredibly powerful magic-user, being the child of two very powerful wizards, yet their parents stole their magic away from them (and everyone else.) I think this is the representation of child abuse, how children can loose motivation in the face of abuse, how many children give up their dreams because they're forced to worry about their education, parents, friends, or other stress factors. I believe Cash is a representation of Ben's depression in some way, with Cash feeling pulled down by their parents, (like Ben in the start of the book) and them feeling unable to create, (the Spellbinder books causing Ben to grow tired and unmotivated) and feeling jealous of other people who can do so much more then they, like the Spellbinders. (Ben constantly comparing himself to other people, being replaced in his friend group, etc)

everday i grieve over the loss of cash spellbinders i am forever vengeful over this loss... maybe i will get all the magic in the world to have the magic to revive them hmmmm.... <- history repeats </3

I actually quite like this, I messed up the lower wings a little and the upper wings should be more bigger, but I quite like how I drew their bird-feet, im normally not very good at those
