In a Heartbeat
One second… One mistake… One moment of hesitation… A single lapse in judgment was all it took to lose a life, someone who was there to guide; there to protect. Someone who was meant to stand by his family through thick and thin. Someone who meant so much to not only loved ones, but the entirety of the country. Just a minute ago, Haldir had been across the battlefield, fending off the ever-persistent enemy army. He was focused, resolute, and willing to go through hell and back to protect everything he cared about. He would do anything to keep the kingdom from falling into the hands of his tyrannical brother. So far, the events of the night were going rather smoothly. Sure, there were a few roadblocks here and there but they were never anything of great hindrance. Astana’s forces were slowly being pushed back and the war up to this point was very much looking up and in favor of Gallurus… Until it wasn’t.
This is just the beginning of something I've been working on since December. So, there's more coming later on, and it's a huge, history changing part of my overall setting.
