Needed this today
friendly reminder to everyone that first draft just needs to exist.
it doesn’t need to be good, it just needs to be there. stories go through so many different drafts that nobody is gonna care if your first draft is a little messy.
you can’t edit and clean up something that doesn’t exist, so make it exist!
Luo Binghe wakes up in the Endless Abyss. He doesn't remember how he got there, but as he struggles to his feet, a few vague moments come back to him.
He remembers...sword glares. Two. One he thought he vaguely recognized, and one he knew to be his beloved Shizun's. He remembers indistinct shouting, someone yelling, "I won't let you!" And then...warm arms?
He can't remember anything past that. He can't remember anything at all.
"Meng Mo?"
"Well, it's about time you woke up." Meng Mo sounds tired. There's something else in his tone as well. Something subdued. Almost...regretful? "Kid, look to your right."
Binghe looks.
He stares.
"I'm sorry, Kid. I really am."
Oh.
"...shi....zun....?"
It was Pity.
Binghe's legs give out. He lands on the ground hard, but he hardly notices, scrabbling forward on hands and knees until he's close enough to snatch up the dusty silk cloth.
"Sh-Shizun?" Air comes to him in ragged, heated gasps. He tugs on his master's sleeve. "Shizun. Shizun? Shizun."
"Kid..."
"Shizun!" Binghe releases the sleeve and starts pushes at a stiff shoulder. "Shizun! Shizun, wake up!"
"Kid. He's dead."
"NO!" The word tears free of him painfully; like ripping off a scab. "NO! SHIZUN! Shizun needs to wake up! Right now!"
"He died on impact,"
Binghe could remember warm arms. He felt like, maybe, he could remember screaming now, too- being tucked under chin, and hearing his shizun's voice saying- something.
"He took the brunt of it, but you knocked your head pretty good, too. I thought we were all going to die."
Binghe keens.
"He- he said something," He hears himself say. "Before we crashed, he said something. What was it? What was it?" And why- WHY- couldn't he remember it?
Meng Mo goes silent; and Binghe's attention snaps onto him so quickly that even he is a bit startled at the intensity of it- but that doesn't matter. Meng Mo- he knows something. He knows something about Shizun’s last- about what Shizun said to him. He knows.
"Tell me." The words hiss pass clenched teeth, "Tell me right now, or I'll- I'll-"
He doesn't know what he'll do, but the things that came to mind were definitely a start. A gross, messy start. None of it would stick, but it would at least hurt.
"Ah, geez! Would you stop with the nasty mental images?! I get it!"
"Then. Tell. Me."
"I will; just not right now!" Meng Mo does a mental equivalent of gesturing widely. "Look around, kid! You're in hell! Now's not the time to lose your head!"
Binghe finally did, and...Meng Mo was right. Terribly, awfully right.
Rage gave way to overwhelm. He looked on instinct to his shizun, seeking guidance as he always did, but Shizun-
Grief choked him. "I have to bury him."
"...fine, but take his sword. It's been trying to get your attention this entire time anyway."
Can we just talk about how much music helps with writing? Don’t know if I’m the only one, but I’ll often have curated playlists with a certain “vibe” of my works and listen to those playlist to help motivate me.
It’s almost like a switch in my brain, like, “Ohp, we’re listening to this playlist? Time to work on its associated WIP.”
AM I THE ONLY ONE?! Am I crazy? Because that’s very possible…
tiny update |˶˙ᵕ˙ )ノ゙
hi all! sorry for my brief absence. just wanted to pop in and give a little update.
I usually draw/write everyday (and my activity here tends to reflect that) but recently IRL things have gotten pretty busy so I haven't been able to set aside time to lock in, make art, and interact with my moots.
I've gotten a few asks about it (and a shit ton on tiktok lmao), but I am still finishing the sleepover comic. It's just that I don't have as much time right now to sit down and work on it so it's very slow-going. I am also taking it easy because I'm trying to avoid worsening my carpal tunnel, but it's coming along.
Hellscape and the funbun abstraction anniversary one-shot are also progressing very slowly for the same reasons. I'm aiming for an end-of-July release for Hellscape ch.3. The one-shot I want to finish this coming week. We'll see how either goes, though.
Here are a couple of snippets of the former and the latter for funsies:
(I also have a yap post of my TADC finale thoughts rotting away in my drafts...my opinions on the finale have continued to change so I'm kind of hesitant to post that until I feel I have a real, solid opinion. Coming soon but maybe not soon and maybe waaaay later idk!)
Everything else I've worked on is related to OC content that I plan to use in the future. These were already long-term projects so progress on the OC stuff is still as turtle-paced as ever lol.
Anyways, thank you for your patience! Hopefully life slows down a bit soon. I'm going crazy being unable to just...draw for hours straight lmao.
Take care!
Man This fanfic shit is easy
DECEPTICONS X HUMAN MECHANIC
Hear me out: imagine a reader who's an Air Force/Heavy Vehicle mechanic, who is completely reckless when it comes to their own regard and safety. We are talking about how you're even a functioning adult kind of bullshit, yk? Imagine the reader being incredibly capable when it comes to fixing heavy-duty vehicles but being super socially awkward, just to balance things out.
Imagine the reader, for one reason or another, getting A) kidnapped for their skills by the Decepticons or B) the reader being like: “yo wantssp fine babe” to one of the Decepticons in their alt form while they're unresponsive. Imagine the reader fixing them up so good that the Decepticon is like: “You are coming with me, pookie…”
Both scenarios involved the reader getting kidnapped; I fooled you into believing you had a choice!! HAAHHAH\silly
I have much more to share with the class\silly
Just let it marinate a bit more inside my head so I can feed it to ya’ll.
