STARS OVER ITALIAN ‘ISLANDS’ This image, taken by Stefano Vita at 4:34am shows the stars before dawn from Sarnano-Piani di Montioli, Italy. The ‘islands’ are actually the peaks of the nearby mountain range peeking out from the mist. The Montioli are part of the Sibillini, in Monti Sibillini National Park; the highest mountain in the 714 square kilometre park is Mt. Vettore at 2,476 metres. Sarnano is in the Marche region in central Italy.
