Desperate to get enough gold to make a better life for himself, he puts himself up for a temporary slavery contract, expecting a gang boss to buy him up, and instead is bought by the Lucent Vexteria, one of the most dangerous types of magician to exist, who can only recharge their magical ether through inflicting pain on others, and Vexteria does not want Evan’s body for fighting.

I wrote 34,501 words in October, across Underline the Silver (immediately introducing a continuity error I now need to fix lmao), Underline the Red, Underline the Blue and A Stain that Won't Dissolve.

This month was actually pretty amazing, given everything going on. I am actually going to try and write less in November and make the most of the hiatus, but it did feel really good to write a good crop of chapters :D

I'll be focusing on Underline the Red in November though, with side focus on some prompts. The merch is very nearly finished, and is ready to be sent. I have also sent a test package to the US with DDP (Direct Duties Paid, which means you don't have to pay the tariffs at all, because I've handled them), and that worked! So while it's still not an ideal situation, it does mean it's a lot painless for y'all in the US.

I am two chapters away from finishing Underline the Blue on my end and have already finished Underline the Gold. Once they're both cleared, we knuckle into Silver! Stain has been approaching the end on my side, it feels much closer now, so while part of me is like 'write a Palmarosa chapter' part of me is also like 'if I finish Stain, that means I can focus on so many Palmarosa chapters' and that's why my attention is split right now, lmao. I'm not rushing the ending of Stain, but the pieces were ready to fall together, and I'm really enjoying the vista - and I'm also going to enjoy bringing y'all the drama. :D

I wrote 24,404 words in November, across Underline the Red, Second Star to the Right, A Stain that Won't Dissolve and an Underline the Gold post-story oneshot.

This month was intentionally quieter than the last because it's the last month of my break, and because I had the liver biopsy and a lot of other things going on (including a lot of unexpected things, like an emergency dentist appointment, emergency vet appointments, needing an emergency eye test and gosh I'm really tired of the word emergency!)

In December, I'm not quite sure what story I'll be focusing on, but ideally Underline the Red. And probably finishing Underline the Blue behind the scenes and getting closer to finishing A Stain that Won't Dissolve. I'm still quite burnt out (it's not like the last few months have been super restful, unfortunately, what's with that). I'll also be getting stuck into my backlog of editing. :D

In original fic this'll be the first! But I've written this before in long-fics like Stuck on the Puzzle, as well as Eversion, and I'm comfortable writing it! (Over at my thespectaclesofthor fanfic account) (I've also written it in a bunch of unpublished original stuff, it used to be what I preferred writing most :D So it's one of those things where it feels super familiar to me, even if it's not familiar to others yet in my og writing on the not_poignant account!)

Hiya! I used to follow your writing ages ago and am now starting to come back to it. I have a vague memory of a chapter that you shared for a Firebird story or something? Is Vexteria the same as that story or something completely new? Thx for all your stuff, I always enjoy it!

Hi anon!

You're thinking of Iverna, and yeah that was a different series. I haven't forgotten about it, but it's been stuck in mental development hell (where I really like the concept and the characters but am not solid on the plot at all), whereas Vexteria consolidated into a workable world with a very workable plot very quickly.

I have about 20 original worlds tbh, behind the scenes, and some are in the 'maybe one day' bank, and others in the 'no this could definitely be a thing', and 'this one seems too hard right now' and 'this one is maybe too similar to this other one.'

What I like about Vexteria is that it feels a lot like writing Game Theory, where the worldbuilding is complex but not too dense, and I can get into a lot of the plot / sexual stuff very quickly, which is what I wanted. I also think the cast is very interesting. It's also a lot darker re: the themes than a lot of what I've written for a while. I'd say Vexteria sort of inspired Palmarosa in some ways, so they're going to share some similarities, though not a great deal. More like 'I have you under a slave contract and you can't do anything about it' is the similarity part, I've wanted to do that for a LONG time. :D
