Day two: “Divided” #inktober #inktober2017
Hello 🙋🏻 . It’s me :). I’m back :D Inktober day 1 . Swift. #inktober #inktober2017
Day 6 “sword” Lady of the lake #inktober2017 #inktober #inktoberday6
I can't see how anyone would dislike her
So this is an interesting conversation, where you have people saying creating a character like that leads to godmodding or it means you don't want anything bad happening to your character, and then on the other side, people saying it's not that deep, they just couldn't see any reason for someone to dislike their character.
The thing is, from my perspective, if I'm going into an RP with a new character, I don't want to shut off any potential for plots or threads.
So even if I personally can't see how anyone would dislike my character, why would I write that on an application? And I've had characters that I've designed to be like that.
One of my most notoriously disliked (IC) characters, Tristram Wythenshawe, was originally designed to be a likeable character. The thing is, he came from a completely different background than every other character around him so everything that he thought was the right or polite thing to do ended up offending his peers. And that was something that I could never have seen coming.
It also made for some incredible storylines.
But if I'd written that I couldn't see anyone disliking Tris in his character profile, or if I'd said it in chat, those storylines wouldn't have happened.
Additionally, although Tristram was supposed to be likeable, he also had faults. And saying you can't see how anyone would dislike your character implies that you can't see their faults, or even their potential to have faults. That's not a good thing.
Even if you're having difficulty filling out the Enemies section on a shipper app it's better to write something about how the character doesn't have any enemies yet than to say you just can't imagine anyone disliking them.
they said they were going to change the plot then didnt change it at all idk why they act confused when they have no members its so obvious ketteridge wont let this idea go n jude doesnt know how to say no to them im so over it i should have left last yr w u
Not to blatantly advertise but you can join Nox any time.
To be fair, my biggest beef with VH was all the stuff they promised when they did the move to jcink and then didn't deliver on. I only returned to the site for that stuff, and I know other people were in the same boat.
Good old VH logic. RPing disabled character = triggering! Sad! RPing ethnic cleansing = fun!!
Unless they're disabled from some kind of magical reason, like Zach (being attacked by The Mysterious Stranger IC) or... do we know why Haggen has a prosthetic leg?
judes ok my real beef is w ketteridge
Jude is fine as a person, they're just bad at adminning. And they're the person in charge of the site, so they're who I hold responsible for what everyone else does.
I understand why you'd dislike Ketteridge. They're passive aggressive they don't want to help people and they get pissy if you ask for clarification.
But for me, it all comes back to how I dislike the way VH functions as a site. The admins function as gatekeepers, preventing you from accessing anything they consider a privilege, instead of helping facilitate you having fun in the magical world.
Since Jude is the head admin, they're responsible for fostering the kind of environment they want the site to have and they've never been able to change the vibe Jenna left behind. They didn't even remove (or hide! could've hidden it with css) her petty little blurb from the root admin account.
you dont have to publish this one but ya it stopped being fun a long time ago i even missed classes this yr bc they closed them on the 28th w no concern for ppls holidays
I hope you don't mind if I do publish this, because there's no reason to do classes on VH.
Even if you want your character to be an auror, they reserve the right to not give your character the job at the end of the day. And nobody's going through your threads to check if you're lying about what your character's job is anyway so there's literally no point doing them. Unless it's something you enjoy of course.
But it is out of pocket to close classes right after xmas. I thought everyone knew that from the 24th to the 6th is basically a holiday.
