The Vhotai
Vhotai (meaning “dual soul”, from Matoran “vho” - two, and “tai” - spirit, essence) is a title given to a fusion of two and exactly two beings. In the celestial pantheon of spirits, Matoran consider the Vhotai to be lesser spirits.
The beings forming a Vhotai must have a strong, intimate bond with each other, based on trust, even more so than that is required to form a Kaita. It is not imperative for those attempting the fusion to be lovers. In order for the fusion process to start, both beings must consent to forgo their individuality and combine their bodies and minds.
Since a Vhotai is a fusion of souls, not elements, each Vhotai is unique to the beings they are manifested from; unlike a Kaita, who are a fusion of the elements, and can be summoned by any being of their respective element. Despite that, a Vhotai cannot be formed between members of the Matoran species of the same elemental affinity. Unlike a Kaita, a specific Vhotai persists between form transformations, from Matoran, to Toa, to Turaga.
A Vhotai possesses their own mind, and perceives themselves as an individual. They are usually gender-neutral or nonbinary, but may conform to the predominant gender of those that manifested them, or be of distinctly different gender. Their powers, strength, speed, and intelligence are enhanced, but to a lesser extent than that of a Kaita.
Note from creator:
Please do not use “Vhotai” as a word and concept in your writing/etc. without permission. Fusions and two-person fusions are free game, and you’re more than welcome to come up with your own name for them and the rules for their creation and existence.
Consider Vhotai a closed species.
Kalt, my undead Vhotai made from Toa of Magnetism and Toa of Ice that released a nova blast to destroy a pirate base.
They are very sad, and most of the time sleep in a frozen crevasse, fused forever in the prison of flesh that is the mingling corpses of their components.
It is not seen here very well, but his body is broken and torn, mended by ice. Those cuts and cracks in the armor is the ice shining from within.
Onuli and Zale swimming together.
Zale is my Toa Hordika were-dolphin, and Onuli is a Onua/Gali fusion.
Turaga Whenewa
Takali, Vhotai fusion of Takanuva and Gali.
They/them
A spicy boi Vaktau, fusion of Vakama and Matau.
He likes fixing intricate mechanisms and spends his time in a workshop. His favorite thing is to find new ways to incorporate Kanoka powers into mundane objects, transforming their use. He adores cars and ships, especially their visual aesthetics.
A refined boi Nokaju, fusion of Nokama and Nuju.
They like swimming far into the sea at night to gaze at the stars and dive below the water, exploring moonlit ocean floor. During the day they spend their time reading and experimenting with something that piqued their curiosity.
