Ouch, it sounds like you are starving yourself. Is is for $$$ reason, or anything else? In both cases, there must be a better way to deal with it, eating once a day - definitely not good. You are one of my favourite writers, I'm worried about your health.

i don't think that's enough food! is it to save money? you might think about buying a box of protein bars to supplement

one meal a day is not good! please at least eat some toast in the mornings using ur pantry or smtg! bread is v cheap and can be frozen so it lasts a long time! u do not need to have toppings on it but u can buy jam and some spreadable butter or smtg! jam lasts a long time due to the high concentrations of sugar! is also v cheap!

Please take care of yourself! One meal a day is very bad, especially when you're working hard an need energy! You're starving yourself and it sounds like you're developing an eating disorder :( please try to eat more, even if it's snacks throughout the day because one meal is not enough at all. And try to buy stuff cheap in bulk then freeze! And beans, which are cheap! I know it's hard to budget out food when you're starting off, but be mindful that food is a NECESSITY

ngl I only eat once a day sometimes but every day sounds unhealthy... you can get a few days worth of meals for a couple quid max from pasta + sauce, bread + cheese, potatoes + cheese, rice + something that goes on rice. idk what your set up is but my halls had a microwave and a kettle which is enough to make a ton of basic meals to supplement the hall food. Please get enough to eat!

So what I'm getting from this is that money isn't the primary concern, but there is something else making you obsess specifically over food in this way. Which can be a sign of various mental illness including eating disorders and OCD. In which case you should probably talk to a professional about it, or at least mention it the next time you see someone. Because there's lots of ways to eat cheaply that don't involve this kind of obsessive tracking, which isn't healthy.

Seconding what kaputt said - and I also have a lot of money anxiety and have some good budget recipe staples I'm happy to share anytime. (And am also no stranger to obsessive thoughts/here if you need to commiserate or need a distraction.) You deserve to have the food and energy you need to get through the day <3333
hi, thank you very much for the kind words (and the ko-fi donation!), it rly means a lot
it is kind of about money. i track my expenses too and set myself a budget of £30 a week? it used to be £25 but i raised it so i could treat myself once in a while. all meals are provided by my college’s dining hall, decent quality (sometimes) decent prices (depends on how much you eat: pasta is £1.30 and the meat portion at lunch is £2, at dinner you can get the meat for £3 and add some potatoes for 65p, usually i just have one or the other). it is now thursday night and i have spent £12.90 including the toiletries i got from tesco
i’m okay. i try not to live on instant food/protein bars/cooking for myself because if i did that i would literally never leave my room. esp since i don’t go out on weekday nights (again, money, also clubs bore me after like 1h so it’s not really worth it) and lecture schedules are all scattered, i need that hour or so of the day to see my friends at mealtimes
i got a roll of gingersnaps from tesco for my room and i drink a lot of green tea so i’m not v hungry. yesterday i had mashed potatoes and a bun for dinner and milk + a few cookies throughout the day before that, and today i had like 7-8 cookies due to anxiety-snacking through an essay and drank hot chocolate & green tea and had lamb curry for lunch and a small leg of chicken + an apple for dinner and tbh i’m not feeling too good about that so i might eat less tomorrow
