My favoured brushes for live work - for the last ten years or so - have been the Vic Firth Live Wires. This is purely a volume thing. Given the choice I prefer the Heritage Brush - I play much more expressively with them. So this time I decided to use them to play a whole gig. I’m so pleased I did. The experience was far more satisfying. The vintage set of Ludwig brushes were very similar to play. The only thing I do need to do is fix the heritage so they have a narrower spread, which the Ludwigs already have.
