Serena's Return'

Mystic  Falls? It was the one place Serena had always felt secure due to the aid and support of her friend’s and her sister Caroline. Sure she made a lot of god damn awful mistakes but that didn’t make her a bad person…did it? Serena was always the party wild child who skipped school drove her mother to a breakdown and drank away her sorrows and pain over nothing , she was merely 16 years old what possible pain could a sixteen year old that was what they said when they watched the younger blonde Forbe’s  spiral rapidly out of control and yet she did have pain. She wasn’t perfect she would never be perfect and yet her older sister was and despite the fact she hated to admit it Caroline had everything that’s he wanted, she was the popular one , she was the one invited to all the partys and the one who always seemed to get what she wanted from both their mother and father and yet she had become used to it because despite their parents claims that they loved both of their daughters the same this was how it had always been.

Her life was relatively normal despite the fact she partied every night and spent her classes in stoners den with Jeremy Gilbert her ex boyfriend and longtime friend, she had known the Gilbert family for aslong as she could remember Elena had been brought into her life by Caroline and yet Jeremy hadn’t he seemed to have just found his way to her on that scorching sunny day in kindergarden when her icepop fell off the stick and slid onto the ground . The young blonde began to sob yet before the tears even had a chance to brush her cheek a small brown haired boy rushed over and handed her his icepop telling her she cold keep it. That was the day she had fallen inlove with him, it had been love at first sight and even though the weren’t together anymore she would always love him because the reason they weren’t together anymore wasn’t because they fought or because she was growing bored of him like she had to claim to get rid of him, the reason was so much more life threatening to anyone who knew the truth, to anyone who knew what she had done on the unforgettable dark dull winter’s night. In life she had made many mistakes yet her biggest had been made on this particular night.

Wandering around the Lockwood mansion she fumbled with her large handbag that was filled with empty bottles of vodka wich she had consumed tonight alone after a huge fight with her mother about her attitude to life and how she had been treating her older sister. Serena was the type whom only cared for herself and this had become clear on many occasions such as tonight when she had gotten herself into an unrecogniseable state. Leaning against the stairway overlooking the ballroom she watched as numerous members of the town mixed and chit chatted about the daily goings on and their current life experiences. Truthfully she despised these mixures infact the only reason she ever bothered to attend them was because her mother was the sherrif and cared greatly about appearances and the image her family put across to the other members of Mystic Falls.

Exhaleing deeply she allowed her mind to wander for a while contemplateing leaving for home until her eyes set upon Tyler Lockwood whom was stood in the far corner with a couple of others whom she knew from school looking as bored if not more then she was. Smirking slightly as she caught his eye she stepped towards him until she found herself face to face with the tall dark haired teenager “So this is fun..” she stated sarcastically as she rolled her eyes upwards watching as he laughed towards her snarky comment on the irony of his parents party “I know..” he replied his tone as snarky as her own as her eyes glanced around the room they suddenly fell upon the car keys of Tylers father better known as the mayor draped across the small coffee table next to the door. spending together lately she figured it was about time he knew who she really was. His eyes widened as he glanced to the keys shakeing his head he replied “Nah lets just do something else.”

Edgeing towards it as the others watched she gripped the keys in her hand dangling them in Tylers face as she smirked “So how about some real fun” she stated tilting her head to the side as she watched him take her in for a moment. spending together lately she figured it was about time he knew who she really was. His eyes widened as he glanced to the keys shakeing his head he replied “Nah lets just do something else.” Pouting slightly she smirked her tone mocking as she shot back “What afraid daddy will find out” her words caused him to grunt slightly as he suddenly stepped forward his eyes on her before he replied “Fine lets go she’s right it will be fun” he stated before allowing his glance to move from herself to the others whom he had been previously talking to. A smirk of satisfaction filled Serena’s face as she realised she had once again gotten her way.

Clenching her hand around the car keys she made her way towards the door followed closely by Tyler and the others, it wasnt long before she was outside in the darkness of the large yard filled with cars belonging to the party goers and without even questioning Tyler on wich car was his fathers she hit the unlock button her eyes takeing in the numerous cars parked along the road until she spotted the one lighting up.Her smirk widened as she let her eyes wander the darkness assureing noone had seen them leaving or takeing the keys because as far as she was concerned she would simply take the car for a joyride and return it later without a scratch. Noone would ever have to know about their gallivanting exsept of course each of them whom had decided to tag along after her eager persuation. As soon as she was sure the coast was clear she made her way towards the car pulling open the drivers door she climbed inside as Tyler staggered into the passenger seat and the others clammered into the back. There wasnt even enough seats for the ammount of people whom had managed to squeeze into the back seat of the average sized car but frankly she didnt car.

Once the key was in the ignition her eyes went to Tyler whom seemed to be more then a little worried about what she had planned next. Laughing slightly she narrowed her eyes on him as she rested her hand on his shoulder Dont worry baby we’ll be back soon” she mocked her tone filled with playfullness as she placed her hands on the wheel and pressed down hard on the pedal backing the car out quickly she tugged the brake skidding it down the Lockwood grounds. The car skidded out onto the main road as she flicked on the radio her eyes struggling to focus on the road ahead due to the ammount of alcohol she had allowed herself to consume in the last hour yet she was sure that noone in this car was completely sober meaning it wouldnt have made a difference whom was behind the wheel at the time they sped onto the back roads leading out of Mystic Falls. Although the road was oddly empty there was one car ahead and as amuseing as their joyrideing was one of the girls from the back suddenly leaned her head between the two front seats a smirk clearly visible on her features as she laughed “Ser blink him” hearing the encourageing cheers from the back she did as she instructed  and began to blink her headlights at the car infront while nearing the back with each press on the pedal and although it was all just some joke the more she flashed the more the car infront of her became distracted and within seconds the man driveing had lost control and missed the next turn skidding off the road until his car spantaniously combusted into flames right before their eyes.

Slamming on the brakes as the shrieks and screams from her friends was clear she bit down on her lower lip shock spread across her face as their car came to a haulting stop right ahead of the flameing metal wreck that had previously been the car they had been terrorizeing. When the car was stopped completely Tyler, Serena and the others clammered from the car as one of the younger girls became so freaked out she decided to phone the emergency services. Before Serena could stop her she proclaimed the police were on their way and that was when the wave of shock hit the blonde.The police were coming meaning her mother was coming , yet little did she know that her mother finding out about what they had just done was about to be the least of her worrys. After what seemed like hours her mothers squad car pulled up at the scene followed closely by numerous ambulances and detectives cars whom pronounced the man in question dead within seconds of their arrival. As soon as the fire was put out Serena stood still her body numb as she leaned against the railance watching as they dragged the burned up corpse from the car and before she could see them cover the lifeless body she felt a hand on her shoulder.

Tipping her head slightly she locked her eyes on her mother whom wore a look of dissapointment across her face “Of all the thinks youve done Serena! how could you be so stupid..” unable to answer she choked up slightly fear clearly visible on her face as she flung herself forward her head nestled on her mothers shoulder as she broke down into tears Mom…im so sorry..im so sorry..I killed him..” she chanted breathlessly as she broke down in her mothers arms. Her reactions were too much for Liz to handle as she hushed and soothed her youngest daughter realiseing that her actions were all down to her not beeing around and deep down she was just her little girl she hatched a plan in her head before pushing her daughter back slightly “Get in the car..” swallowing slightly Serena froze up figureing that she was going to take her to the station but before she had a chance to question her mother on what was going on she repeated her words again this time with a new sterness that told her she meant business “Serena get in the car before its too late” the last part was what caused Serena to nod slightly before spinning on her heels and pulling open the door of the squad car.

Once she was fully inside she slammed it behind her settling into the seat as her mother took her place in the drivers seat  she allowed her eyes to glance out the window watching as the mayor whom had obviously arrived while she had been in her state of shock argued with his son about his car beeing involved while the others whom had been present all because of her were beeing questioned by the police. As the car began to speed off she let her eyes go to her mother noticeing she was speeding out of town she swallowed slightly “W…what are you doing?” shakeing her head her mother uttered “Im not letting you go through this your leaving! no arguements” exhaleing in shock she lunged forward in the seat and yelled to her mother “You cant just let them take the fall for this it was all me!” her mother narrowed her eyes on her younger daughter desperate to protect her from her faith as she replied “Tyler will get off dont worry, now your leaving town no more arguements Serena Forbes” her tone became sharp as Serena realised she had no say in this she leaned back into the seat  her mind began to contemplate her life in Mystic Falls realiseing that this was probably the last time she would see any or her friends or family again.

That night her mother had dropped her off at St Marys boarding school in California with a simple goodbye and a warning to stay away from Mystic Falls and its residents, her actions left her all alone to start a new life in a place she began to hate more and more with each passing day. In school she was branded wild due to her attitude that had become far once since the accident. Every night she would wake up screaming after having another nightmare that consister of the car bursting into flames of the image of the man’s dead body as he was dragged from the metal wreck. Numerous time she had attempted to contact both her mother and sister but she had quickly learned that her mothers warning had been so true infact that she had gone to the trouble of changeing every number Serena had ever known of. They had a no contact rule and her stubborn mother was really sticking to it considering it had been a little over a year since the incident and there wasnt so much as a phonecall until a couple of day’s ago when she was called out of class to take a phonecall in the office from her mother yet the second the younger Forbe’s picking up the phone and took in her mothers tone she knew something was wrong ,

her fear’s had only been confirmed when her mother told her about her sister and how she may not have very long left. Caroline was dieing? the one person whom she looked upto for basically everything, the one person who did everything for her and practically raised her this couldnt be happening. Naturally she did what anyone would do in her situation and packed up her stuff before hitching a ride home to Mystic Falls’. Yet she didnt bother to go to the house there was no point or more importantly there wasnt enough time. The journey home felt like it had taken day’s and yet the second her eye’s stuck to the Welcome to Mystic Fall’s sign on the main road she knew nothing around here had actually changed. After directing the taxi driver to the hospital she pulled up outside her bag slung over her shoulder as she paid the man before rushing acros the grass and up the path through the entrance. Yet as she raced down the hallway to find her older sister the word’s she doesnt have long left continued to flash in her head.

Stepping to the nurses desk she took a breather for a moment to stop herself from hyprventalating from the run and the shock “Can you tell me were Caroline Forbe’s is?” she questioned her words stammering as quickly as she could before the nurse replied “Im sorry we only allow family in the private room’s after five” inhaling deeply she bit down on her lower lip attempting to hold back tear’s as the word’s “Im her sister…” escaped her lip’s in a hushed whisper
