I think one of things I like about Midsomer Murders (besides the sheer absurdity of some moments that leave me talking about it for hours) is the variety in killers.
Not only can anyone be a victim and die in a variety of ways, but anyone can be a killer. So you’ve got the child killers with Hannah, Ettie and Guy in Death and Dreams. But then it can swing to the elderly going around murdering as well and it provides a lot of creative methods. Especially when there’s multiple (Which I think is part of why it’s still so enjoyable on rewatches) Like you have Harold Winstanley hitting Agnes Gray on the head first. But then he switches a blade so Essyln accidentally kills himself.
There’s also how these elderly killers are not afraid to get their hands dirty. With Victoria Bartlett, yes she has to drug her victims because she’s older and may have lost in a physical fight. (I don’t think we get an age for her in the episode. But I did the math and her actress would’ve been 67 if I’m right. So I’m guess Victoria was around the same age) But once she did that she was plenty ready to physically drag her victims into dirty ponds in the woods and manure and dirt.
There’s just so much to talk about with this show and I love it so much.
