Finally watched Faces of Grief. And I loved it.
First of all, Rosemary, poor Rosemary. She deserved better. To see her slowly consumed by her grief, and eventually manipulated by Bon is heartbreaking. As well as seeing her become so full of despair after her argument with Sophie, which are also her final words to Sophie before being stuffed into Sha. And Felix decision to fire her and threatening a restraining order is wrong, which made her mental health worse. Her death is also horrifically gruesome and awful. But it’s great horror.
And it’s also so depressing for Sophie, because not only has her two younger siblings died, her father then disappeared for reasons she doesn’t know. But her final conversation with her mother is an argument about how she doesn’t feel safe anymore and is still struggling with her own grief. But can’t process it. I’m wondering what we’ll see of her when it gets to the present, as she slowly regains her memories.
Still confused about Bon. I’ve seen theories, like him being a manifestation of Jack’s grief and anger. Like anger towards Felix. But there’s things that don’t add up. So I’ll just wait until we get more info.
Speaking of Felix, I’ve seen a lot more hate for him after this came out, mainly with him threatening a restraining order against Rosemary. Which I understand. Yet I can’t hate him. Obviously the things he did were horrible and he’s responsible for Edd and Molly deaths. And firing Rosemary. But he’s a really interesting character, who I’m desperate to know more about. Like Sophie, I want to see how he’s doing in the present of the story.
It’s apparent he’s the shadow man. However we know he’s not committing the murders (It’s Bon) He just knows and is covering them up. Like cleaning up/getting rid of evidence. And denying police entry. Partially explaining why he’s sleeping at Bon’s burgers. Though I don’t know where, is he just sleeping at his desk?
Which I’m wondering, why? As of now, I say it’s partially fear driving him to cover it up, maybe due to the danger Bon poses. I have no doubts that if Bon wanted to he’d kill Felix easily. I think Felix is a sort of unwilling accomplice to Bon. Bon is committing the murders for whatever reason and Felix is covering them up out of fear of what Bon could do to him. As a result of struggling with an addiction, Felix has done something he seemingly is still guilty about, no matter what facade he puts up. And he’s not confronting it, so he’s doubling down and trying to get solutions that work in his current state. Like firing Rosemary/threatening a restraining order. These aren’t good solutions to his problems at all. As it’s not helping his reputation, as he’s become the main suspect in all the disappearances because they all connect to him. But for him, it’s probably the quickest and most viable idea he can think of. Even if it’s the worst ones that’s going to actively ruin his goals.
Going back to Bon my other guess as to why he’s letting/instructing? Felix to cover everything up, is so he can get more people to stuff into animatronics. Then he might kill Felix if Bon thinks he’s lost his usefulness. Still not sure why though, what is Bon’s end goal?
I don’t know, this is just all my rambling and terrible theorising. I’ll have more to say at some point, I just don’t know when.
