Gishadvice: For the next week before gishwhes, pick up your dusty camera and snap some shots at least once a day. Anything. Your mom, your dog, some kale, a floating balloon.
I'm thinking about joining but I think it might be a bit early for me (because I'm 15) and I cannot do as much as others, but I still really want to do it because from what I've seen and what people say it looks pretty amazing. Should I join or no?
I would say go for it! A lot of participants are in their teens, and you might be the youngest on a team but that could make it more fun! Be honest with your team about your constraints (transportation, school, money) and remember that Gishwhes is about having fun!
Advice would be to possibly find a team full of members who are participating for their first year. Many first years, or Freshmen to Gishwhes (going to call ya’all, that makes me a senior, oh my!) no mater what their age is, are in the exactly same boat as you are. Even with money and transportation, it is a learning experience.
Story time! My Freshmen year of Gishwhes I didn't have a car or a dollar to my name, but I had the most fun I've had in years and participating caused me to continue to grow and grow. My BEST FRIENDS are from gishwhes’ first year, and we are still very very close to this day (can’t believe its five years now!)
So again, I say go for it! Don’t let age or income or fear of going out there and being a bit weirder than you already are stop you!! The right team is out there for you and that is what the Gishwhesnetwork is all about! <3 If you need further help, let us know! Ask for moi. Apologies for the rant!
