Victoria had never been this long without jumping on the back of a horse. Back home, rarely a day went past where she wasn’t galloping through the countryside. In Greece, it was harder to find enough time to herself. The terrain was different, too. It wasn’t something she was used to, and she didn’t want to run the risk of causing an injury to her mare, or else getting hopelessly lost. Still, it wasn’t an easy task. The longer she stayed away, the more restless she became.
Her boredom had grown nearly unbearable today, and resulted in her slipping down to the stables. She wasn’t intending to take her horse out, but just the smell of straw and leather was comforting. She’d been there for roughly half an hour when somebody else entered, and without looking, she called out to them.
“Are you going for a ride? If you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to join you. I’m afraid I’d get lost if I go alone.”
