Do you ever re-read books? I think most of us do. I re-read books and I’m not ashamed of it. I have a thousand books to be read for the first time but still I re-read. . This is the case of “The Wallflowers” series by @lisakleypas. The book in the picture above is the second book in the series “It Happened One Autumn”, now, Ms. Kleypas is very special to all of us, that’s an understatement. She is not my favorite romance writer but she’s the one I go to for comfort. Her books were my first romance books and she kind of saved me from depression and despair years ago when I had my back injury and I though I would no longer be able to walk. She gave me confort when I most needed it. She helped me through rehab and she opened the door of the genre for me. I have to thank her and her books for that. . Since then I’ve read her books in several formats, in Spanish and in English (the joys of being certified bilingual, blame it on Cambridge University examinations). This time I’m reading her books as a support reader, helping a group of readers in a book club through their first historical romance experiences. Because romance is not as simple or for the simpleminded that prejudiced people might lead you to believe. There’s so much to it; costumes of the times, society rules, manners of conduct, differences in social status, historical facts, events… I’m happy to be a sort of big sister figure to new readers. It’s so satisfying, don’t you think? . . . . . #LisaKleypas #Wallflowers #VictorianRomance #HistoricalRomance #HistoricalRomanceBooks #romancestagram #romancelandia #historicalromance #romancecommunity #romancereaders #readmoreromance #womenwriters #bookaholic #bibliophile #bookstagrammer #ilovereading #bookblog #readingforfun #ilovebooks #bookobsessed #bookishphotography #bookishlove #bookobsessed #readingforfun #addictedtobooks #readabook #becauseofreading (en Spain) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGXSEYAAfMm/?igshid=qje49l7v8wgt
Customer: See here, wait, I’ve found a button in my salad.
Waiter: That’s all right, sir, it’s part of the dressing.
I brought back some fabulous books from #rwa18 but I must say this one owns my heart. #firstprintbook #galley #victorianromance #avonbooks

A few Victorian penny novels that we’ll be republishing early next year. We here at Victorian Workhouse Press are cleaning up the text, sharpening characterization, getting rid of the racist nonsense because nobody needs that, fixing up the illustrations, plugging up a few holes in the stories, and editing in matters both big and small. Sydney Watson was a prolific writer and was popular in his day, though not very well known now. We’re doing our part to rescue authors like Mr. Watson and others from obscurity, so today’s readers can enjoy their books.
