10 more Victrix Dacians! Painted once more in Rome Total War Thracian colors! The draco standard is the only Red and Yellow in the army thus far.

Only 20 more Dacians left in the sack! I am excited to finish these guys. I use them as palate cleansers between more complex squads.

Got a few Victrix Miniatures and Wargames Atlantic blisters to fiddle around with. It was a gift, and the expectation was that I would make at least a few Runequest minis with it. Alright, can do.

Featured are Victric Viking Warriors and Hoplis, and Wargames Atlantic Female Cannon Fodder, Werewolves, Citizens of Rome, and also I forgot a set of Frostgrave Gnolls.

Workbench update!

Up first, some Gallic cavalry I’ve been working on to ally with the Carthaginians, the Romans, or the Greeks. (Really anyone… there were a lot of Gaelic people at that time in A LOT of places.

Im happy with their color scheme, being quite bright but not too vibrant (except maybe the yellow)

Up next are Greek Peltasts:

I love how quickly these guys paint up! I’ve elected to use various earth tones for their clothing on accounts of light infantry being of a (typically) poorer economic class at this time, and to my mind brown and grey will help hide you better in rocky terrain than bright blue.

You can also spot some phalangite shields in working on. I’ve been sitting on em for a long time and it’s about time I finished them.

All these models I’ve been working on are from Warlord and Victrix. Overall like the warlord Macedonians better, but victrix just does plastic so well. I don’t think I’ll go back to warlord for anything other than Macedonians.

Victrix French Imperial Guard Lancers

Purchased this set that I had my eye on for a little while. Superb sculpts and amazing work from thenfolks at Victrix:

I have primed them matte brown (rust oleum dark brown camo)

Finally, after several weeks, I have finished more minis! Beware, Saxons, Spaniards, Sicilians, Byzantines, Levantines, Tarantines, Turks, French, uhhh basically anybody and everybody within reach of the Mediterranean littoral: The Normans have arrived! These Normans Cavalry from Victrix Miniatures took ages for me to paint but they ended up looking awesome! I'm so glad they're done though, god I hate painting cavalry. Horses are such a pain, with all their large smooth organic curved surfaces. None of the usual time saving little tricks of the trade work on horses, you've just gotta grind 'em out from first principles. These guys I had to prime with brush on primer too, on account of the ice storm a few weeks back, which also added more time and work. But here they are! They're done and I'm going to bust 'em out for Lion Rampant, Saga, and any other game that I can find a way to shove them into!
