Victrola-style record player, with a book of records inside the cabinet. Pretty good condition and even the shellac record on the turntable is pristine, but did not get to see if the turntable works right because the store had removed the needle and crank to prevent damage.
Victrola [ Vic + Roland ] - Roland keeps Victor's ego in check, but they both like the admiration of a good crowd.

Went to the thrift store today and stumbled upon a Prince's Orchestra 78rpm with Hawaiian Nights and Memories (You Made The World For Me) from 1917... FOR A DOLLAR. I'm away from home right now so I cant listen to it for a while and I cant find any records of these two songs online... let me know if any of you have any luck! Happy thrifting!

It's a beautiful day outside today in harm city, and if you weren't told, you would never believe snow and Ice are bearing down on us tomorrow or the next. We have uncontrollable weather spirits here In Baltimore. We all become accustomed to their mercurial changes. It's part of the charm.
In today's look at my grandfather's record collection we have Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli singing together live. I was always in love with Liza Minnelli. I had a bunch of childhood crushes. I think I may have been 9 or 10 when I first saw Cabaret. It left a lasting impression on me. Liza could be the Betty Boop of her age. Her mother Judy Garland was the Dorothy of her age. I always loved Judy's voice. Her struggle in life always made me feel sorry for her. Child stars are vulnerable to the hungry beast that the movie industry is. The story, although common, is no less painful and I think it stands to these women's strength and determination to live beyond it and rise above it.
In a more jovial light, lets go back to 1964.
