#vidding question

A question for anybody who might know this sort of thing... I always used to watch my DVDs on my Windows 7 computer via Windows Media Player. Win 10, in all of its infinite wisdom 😒 removed that ability. Since then, I just watch whatever I want via streaming but I have a couple of things that are only on DVD that I’d like to watch without having to rip them. (For example, before my old computer died, I was watching my Sanctuary DVDs and I liked to flip back and forth between the show audio and the commentary tracks. I can rip them with one or the other but not both.😕 I’d like the option to finish my rewatch in that same way, you know?)

I’ve heard about the VLC player for years but have never tried it. My main concern is that it will bork up my Vegas codecs in some way and wreck my ability to vid. Has anybody had any trouble with anything like that?

Though I’m not currently vidding at the moment, that last GIFset reminded me of a vidding quandary I haven’t figured out the answer for yet. If any vidding peeps want to chime in with how you feel about something like this, even if you’re not in the Flash fandom, I’d love to hear your opinion. And, of course, any of my non-vidder friends as well! ;)

Here’s the thing: Normally I consider any show footage fair game if I’m making a vid. Like if Character A has a significant other with similar hair color to Character B, whom I’m vidding with A, then I’ll use their footage as a fake out. In the Flash, though, Harry doesn’t have a SO but he does have his daughter Jesse, who has very similar hair color/style to Caitlin.

So normally, I’d use scenes with Harry and somebody else to bolster my vidding “arsenal” so not to keep using that one (precious ♥♥♥) scene over and over again. And Jesse fakes out for Caitlin REALLY well...

There are more but you get the idea. ;)

But it just feels awkward to use scenes like these as romantic fake outs when you know in canon that’s his daughter. But does it matter what the original scene was when you’re using it to represent somebody else? *confuzzled*

How do you guys feel about things like this? I’ve noticed that I’ve only very rarely seen Jesse faked out for Caitlin in all of the SnowHarry vids I’ve seen. So I don’t know if I’m not alone in feeling weird about using them? I dunno but I thought it would be worth it to ask! ;)

I'm proud of my editing in the fanfic trailer and I love how the color grading came out in the shipping vid.
