Class tonight technically ended at 8:30. I knew I’d be staying later to finish editing and colour correcting the project I was working on, so while half the people in the editing suite packed up around 8ish, I stayed in my chair. Kale came over and started talking to me, asking if I’d seen the first two minutes of the walking dead season five return. I didn’t even know it had been released, so I freaked out, but in a smooth way, because I put my hand on his arm while freaking out. Very smooth, Kate. Very smooth.
So he pulled out his computer to show me, I colour-corrected a bit more, and then watched it. Then we talked about how there’s only like, three more days to wait, how all the (spoiler) Beth feels came back, and how awesome it was gonna be.
Then he mentioned that he’s finished season four of supernatural (yeah, I found out he started watching it last night) and is on episode 2 of season 5. I asked him what he thought of Ruby’s betrayal and such, then mentioned that his talking about it Wed made me want to continue watching it (since I finally finished Parks and Rec), so I had resumed earlier today. Then we laughed about the black-and-white monster movie episode, and I told him that one of my fave eps was coming soon (Changing Channels!!!). We talked supernatural for a bit, then I transitioned it to GISHWHES somehow, and told him he should do it this year. And we talked more, before he said he should probably leave. I made fun of him, and he said he would be willing to stay if he didn’t have a 40 minute drive ahead of him.
So long story short, I think I’m making progress. Now I just need to covertly mention liveblogging TWD when it returns and then transition that into asking for his phone number. I think it could work. I almost did tonight, but then the moment was gone, so I’ll wait. For now, talking in person and random Facebook messaging will do.
Oh, and the other editing team really liked what I did with the footage. More than theirs. Even if it was technically too long. Times like this, I get reminded that I actually am a decent editor who knows when to make the cut. It makes me happy.
