for once, her armor is away. it's not often that erza feels comfortable enough to do so, especially when on a job request. but with gray, lucy, and natsu in her party, she supposed that was cause enough as any to be able to shed her burdens now and again.
lucy and natsu had taken off with happy to catch some fish, much due to happy's insistence, of course. so, erza had started on preparing their fire for dinner. sure, she could have requipped and made this a lot easier for herself, but there was something about doing it the hard way that gave her peace amongst a loud mind filled with too many thoughts.
she thought gray had been catching up with the others, but it appeared that he'd stayed behind. his voice catches erza momentarily off guard, and the stick she's been using to try and start the fire breaks beneath her fingers. with a sigh, brown eyes glance up only to look right back down and start again on making their fire. --- well, wasn't he the observant one on this trip?
" you'd do quite well on the council, you know. with your observancy skills. " a small smile graces erza's lips, sticks just beginning to spark. " i assure you that nothing is the matter, " she starts, even if that wasn't the whole truth. " however, i can't say i'm taking the whole.. seventh guild master thing so easily. especially, when our master isn't here to guide me. "
she avoids he eyes, her own focused on the flame. " i am afraid that this decision you've all made was in haste. am i truly capable of leading fairy tail through what's to come? "
