"Remember when we first shared a meal together and the sky looked just like this? We've had so many good meals at sunset since then, wouldn't you say?" "...Is this your way of asking me to share some of these tacos with you?" "Maaaaybe."

Sunsets have marked a few important moments in Ravnur's life, for better or for worse. The sky was the colour of blood oranges when he left the Golmore Jungle on a ship towards Thavnair, like a mirror to the consequences of his bloody actions back home. It was a sight that he would never forget.

But when he first met Alaqa, there was a gentler sunset of pinks and golds that washed over the stone cliffs overlooking Rhalgr's Reach. It became easier to enjoy the ending of a long day of healer's work with someone who'd eventually become his best friend. Since then, they've been nearly inseparable in battle as a potent (platonic) tank-healer pair.

Vierapril 2026 - Day 27 - Alive

There is something about the sea that draws others like me. It's freedom. You can make what you want of yourself, and remake as much as needed until you find that version of you that feels right.

It's also a teacher. And the lessons can be difficult, cruel and unfair, but the strong and the smart. They survive. The strongest can even thrive among crashing waves and stormy skies. It is a constant tilting of the scales between life and death, and sometimes no matter how prepared and powerful one is, the waters will claim them. That is a risk I have accepted, and every time we set sail every soul on my ship knows the risks. Even so. Even with all the threats and dangers, the call of open air and sea birds hails us onward.

In my already long life, I have never felt so alive.
