“It’s my private mountain. It belongs to me. God told me if I painted it enough, I could have it.” -Georgia O’Keeffe This is Cerro Pedernal, locally known as just "Pedernal", it is a narrow mesa in northern New Mexico. The name is Spanish for "flint hill". Pedernal Mountain moved and inspired O’Keeffe as she studied and painted it from her studio at Ghost Ranch. After her death, her ashes were scattered atop Pedernal, as a testament to the bond she felt with the mountain. I photographed this in mid-May of this year. You can see some of Georgia O’Keffee’s paintings at the Georgia O’Keffee museum print catalog here: https://prints.okeeffemuseum.org/search/subject/new+mexico #CerroPedernal #Pedernal #GeorgiaOKeefe #GeorgiaOKeefesMountain #ViewFromGhostRanch #PhotoByJeriRae https://www.instagram.com/p/CEV8sCrFH3X/?igshid=ic046a73ktaz
