“ hiding your nature behind mortal eyes ? ” kol countered, he reached out, fingers brushing her hair from her eyes, tracing the swell of her cheeks and the line of her jaw as he leaned forward, over her shoulder and spoke into the shell of her ear, “ it’s the easiest trick of all. ” in that moment he allowed the beast beneath the surface of his skin to rise, the sound of blood pulsing beneath skin and forcing the veins within his cheeks to rise and swell to the surface in blackened lines that seemed to crawl with life, the whites of his eyes turned blood red and when he leaned back to meet her eyes, there was no sign of the mask of the charming and devilish young man -- instead all there was was the bloodied eyes of the beast and kol smiled.
