"You looked like you needed one."

Often he would find himself dwelling on the more negative things he’s been through. Deep in thought, startled with the arms wrapping around him, it took him a second to recognize that it was Daniel. He grips him tight, fingers curling into the fabric of his shirt, holding him close. “Yeah.” He pulls away looking terrified as he taking him by the hand. “I was back there for a moment. In that god forsaken place, where the stench of death lingered. I remember screaming, and-and then—” His face fell into a dazed look.
“I’m okay. I am okay right?” There’s a slight tremble to his fingers as he runs them over his face pressing them into his eyes for a moment. He gently headbutts Dan on the shoulder. “I’m never going to get over that stupid bone horror show. It was so real. It was so real. I felt like I was there. Merci mon amour. Merci de me supporter. Je suis désolé. Je suis vraiment désolé. Je suis avec Daniel. Je ne suis pas dans les catacombes de Paris. Je suis avec Daniel.” A sharp inhale, shoulders shaking a little, furiously scrubbing at his eyes. “Je suis avec Daniel.”
Daniel understood sometimes the present felt like a pleasant deluded dream to the past for Nicolas. The trauma still had a strong grip on his lover, but he hoped over time, time they had as vampires these past horrors would dim, become indistinct to the elder. Here and now being the stronger theme. All he could do was be patient, reassuring allow Nicolas to work his way through whatever illusion he caught himself in. A calming presence to lead him home. These reveries were becoming less frequent, their new home in its seaside setting agreeing with both of their constitution's. "Your fine and dandy."
Returning the soft headbutt with his chin curled on top of Nicolas' head. "Don't be sorry, just know I'm here, now in 2019, in Italy by the sea." Pulling his head back to gently stop Nicolas from overly rubbing at his eyes. Kissing a lid in turn. I wish there was something I could droplet into your peepers to make those times less...real. I may have to consult a fairy, well a nymph to be precise."
