So I wrote a post about the Southern Vampire Mysteries series and I did say I would possibly follow that up with some characters and story plots.
Eric is easily one of the most impact-able characters in both the book and tv series. He is a very tall, old, powerful and attractive vampire. He is the most interesting forefront character in my opinion. He is a thousand years old and just that makes you wonder, all the way through, about his human life and his journey through the world watching it change and age.
He is described as pragmatic by Sookie herself. The relationship they have together is definitely lacking, she has issues telling him anything important and vice versa. This causes more troubles for the relationship that they share, trouble that could have otherwise been avoided.
I fell in love with Eric, I found his hard and cruel exterior made his interior so much more softer and loving. You can see who is worth what to him.
I felt that the way that the book series ended when he went off to get married to another vampire, the Queen of Oklahoma, was quit disappointing, I had been routing for him to stay and try to make things work. After all he does like being a big fish in a little pond.
Eric Northman was a powerful force in area 5 of Louisiana and I feel he did not try to fight the arrangement. He did go into the marriage with conditions that did protect Sookie and his “children”.
I would have liked to follow Eric to Oklahoma to see how the events unraveled or even Quinn. I did feel satisfied by most of the way that Eric left things, but I could honestly have 80 books filled with Eric Northman and his mischievous dealings.
As an end to this post I would like to throw my appreciation out there for the actor who played Eric so well and brought to life a swedish Viking Vampire for all the eyes and ears out there <3
