i've had this in the back of my brain for months. below is a small passage i wrote about this if you're interested
By the time that leaves your mouth so-to-speak, he tackles you to the ground. Somehow, the void from his hood began to flare up, almost akin to your grimdarkness from decades ago. Yet, as far as you could tell, there was no cure for him. Nothing that would ever clear him of his throes.
This John was much like you in that regard, wasn't he?
You want to study him under a petrii dish, under your watchful eye even further. By far, the anomaly was surely one of the most intriguing things to come into your sight, even if by mere accident. Perhaps, him bringing back your insatiable curiosity, was because you were bored of what you knew already. The unknown in your mind was simply far more attractive, after when you've seen everything your little peice of canon had to offer hundreds and hundreds of times over.
The void from his face drips onto your plated face, much like oil. He was staring down at you, pinning you against the ground by your neck. You miss excitement like this. Especially since you can make him out snarling almost. What would cause an Egbert to act like this? You have a decent idea, but you want to know the specifics. Unfortunately, he did not take your inquiries kindly.

HMMM. I suppose a couple things about this fella...
this is the main ref of vile!John I made (at least at this point in his story). a couple things to note about him:
- still a breath player. definitely not an heir though
- he smells earthy and of tobacco. you can find him smoking with a pipe often if he's doing nothing else
- never lets the hood down on purpose. would rather keep his face obscured at all times
- his garb is modified by quite a bit. the original garb from where he comes from is a lot less armored
- would rather not explain where he's from. all he will say is he comes from somewhere else
- searching for something. what exactly? he doesn't like to talk about it directly and is painfully vague
apparently she WASN'T always a merperson and was human like my dad ages ago. i find that weird, like, i actually can't ever imagine my mom being different
