Watching The summer Hikaru died, and thinking yet again of the general big thing repulsing me about small places.
In all honesty. It doesn't even fucking matter if there is a curse on three houses in the eat west and north, or some ancient fucking spirit haunting the nearby forest or your local grandpa, or that there is on god NOTHING.
What matters is that in any of those scenarios if people in the village believe it, even three fuckers, they will infest the rest with it. And if the collectibe doesn't get much exposure to the outside perspective, they just live in their own bubble.
Not even internet access helps. There's no amount of surveillance cameras, or scientific explaining that could save a small group of people in the midst of nature from their mutual indulgence in fear mongering.
It makes no difference which side you are participating in, the one that fear mongers or the one that gets mongered, you will feel the effects either way. Since, most definitely you'll get both.
But as a person that grew up for my first decade and a half in small ass places, the appreciation arises of the mutual aid in survival and mental destruction simultaneously. Few can pull it off.
I too appreciate the effect nature has on people. You don't need to know how the corpse got into your backyard, why there are 10 dead squirrels there. Dismantled beyond recognision. Or a pile of bones. They just got there. They are. Not everything even needs be explained. Accept the way of nature.
Think to yourself
What did that dog eat
Not,
there is a skeleton curse out in the woods to get us.
The only way to beat the inexplicable that untouched nature gives us is to put a fire to it and build skyscrapers.
I like that some things are just unexplainable.
I appreciate the human whimsy of, there must be something out there.
But it also PISSES ME THE FUCK OFFFF
Anyway, The summer Hiakru died is based to me already. You bet yall's asses I'll be rewatching there three episodes until the 4th one comes out, and then it's gonna be 4 of them on repeat.
