Bakugou stood, his expression as hard as stone and made your bed for you. It was the least he could do.
He sighed, running a hand over his face; stepped out of the room and trotted down the stairs. The kitchen was well lit and his team was sitting around the table talking with Mr. Kirishima.
A firm hand slapping his back made Bakugou lurch forward.
“Nice one, Bakubro! She’s quite the catch.” Kirishima smiled his toothy grin and sat by his littlest sisters at a smaller table. While the redhead played with wooden blocks that were supposed to be horses, Bakugou’s face twisted into an expression of regret. He couldn’t believe he did that. Not only had he put you in a bad place he also had to marry you. Which, admittedly was a bad fate for both of you.
Bakugou forced a smile and sat down at the long table. The voices of all of his friends were drowned out when he looked out the large paned window. He could see you outside in the courtyard with Mrs. Kirishima. She was holding your hands and looked distressed. He tilted his head when the older woman stood and walked away. He gazed upon your dumbfounded face, mouth agape and staring at the cobblestone ground.
He wondered what the older woman had said to make you so astounded…
———
After you closed your mouth, you stood and started pacing over the cobblestone paths, your shoes clicking on the hard, uneven surface. How would you get out of this without committing murder?? You thought about all the things that would happen if you didn’t marry Bakugou, and you knew that you would have to do it. You couldn’t stand the idea of never being excepted by anyone if you didn’t!
If you didn’t marry Bakugou, you would be a burden to the Kirishimas for the rest of your life; an old maid who’d have to go everywhere with at least one of their daughters just to be able to buy a loaf of bread!
You didn’t want to leach off of your family just to live. So you’d have to marry… Bakugou.
You held your head in your hands and sat defeatedly onto the bench, unaware of the ruby eyes that had been boring into your figure; an intense gaze that didn’t leave your form for a second.
When you’d had enough of sulking by yourself you walked back into the shop and into the kitchen.
The dining room was louder then it normally was, with the voices of Bakugou’s knights being added into the mix of yelling girls.
You stepped into the kitchen and caught the gaze of Bakugou. He was staring intently at you and it didn’t seem he would let up about it. You shifted from foot to foot nervously before deciding to leave the room.
“Y/n!” One of Eijiro’s sisters called out. “When are you to be wed!?”
Your eyes widened and looked at Bakugou, hoping—praying he would give the answer for you.
He only stared back, his eyes just as wide. You coughed slightly before humming, “We haven’t discussed the wedding date as of yet.” Your eyes frantically searched the knight’s face of any indication that he would interrupt you.
Bakugou straitened, understanding your look. “We need to talk about it. Now’s a good a time as any though,” he roughly stood from the table, grasped your arm, and dragged you roughly out of the kitchen.
Your feet were barely moving, Katsuki was dragging you into the flower shop. When he entered the threshold he dropped your arm and pulled your sword from the bag you kept behind the counter.
“I need to get out of here; blow off some steam, and training is the best option right now.” Bakugou explained and motioned for you to stay where you were. You waited awkwardly, looking at all the pretty plants around you while the creaking of the steps announced every step Bakugou took.
He stomped back down the stairs and held his sword in his hands. “Let’s go.” He opened the door for you, but no longer held your arm in his grasp.
Your swords were tied around your waists as you walked through the market. “Do you want breakfast?” His gruff voice interrupted your thoughts and caused you to jump in surprise.
“No, but we should buy some lunch.” He nodded once then walked towards a small stand. You stayed where you were and let the older man shop.
“Y/N!! You’re getting married!? I heard it from the Kirishimas but I wasn’t sure is it was true!” A woman you didn’t know asked you excitedly. She looked around your age; round cheeks, pale skin, and a nosy personality.
“I only announced my engagement this morning, how-“
“Oh, everyone in town knows by now! We’re so excited for you!!” She held your shoulders tightly and you shifted uncomfortably under the weight of her hands.
“I’m sorry. What is your name?”
“I’m hurt you don’t remember! It’s Uraraka, Silly!” Her words felt like poison; you weren’t sure if it was purposeful or not.
“Excuse me, bitch.” Bakugou roughly pushed the brunette off of you and handed you a basket filled with bread, cheese, and a jar of milk.
“Oh, silly boy! This is Y/N! Have you met her?” Uraraka was hanging off his shoulder and it made you upset for a reason you couldn’t quite grasp.
“He’s my betrothed. I should hope we’ve met each other.” Your words stung at Bakugou’s heart but they stabbed Uraraka’s.
“I’m sorry?”
“I’m getting married to Sir Bakugou. I'm just ecstatic! Did you have any qualms about the joining?” To a man, your words were innocent, but to a woman, those words were venomous-taunting.
“No.” Uraraka clentched her teeth and stomped away, not without gently dragging her hand away from Katsuki’s shoulders, letting her fingers linger for much too long.
“Bitch.” You mumbled under your breath.
“I don’t have time to be around these nobodies for this long. Let’s go.” He grabbed your arm again, more gently this time and dragged you out of the village and into the woods.
You walked with him for quite some time before you stumbled into a beautiful clearing. There were wildflowers and grass everywhere, sunlight streaming through the tree branches, and a small patch of burned grass with a ring of rocks and ashes from past branches being burned.
Bakugou placed his sword by the fire pit and motioned for you to do the same.
“Take a breath, then we fight.” The tall man sat on one of the boulders around the pit and re-laced his leather boots. They must’ve been expensive, not something you could’ve afforded even when you had money. You looked down at your own boots and sighed. The were your fathers boots; much too big for you and holes in the souls.
“I bet you I could beat you if I weren’t wearing shoes.” You mumbled.
“What?” He whipped hi head up.
“Nothing-“
“No, what did you say, princess?” The name should’ve sent shivers down your spine, make you swoon over the handsome man paying you some attention; instead, it made your blood boil. He was mocking you.
“I said, I bet I could beat you without shoes on.”
“Alright, that’s it.” Bakugou leap from the Boulder and landed on you, making you tumble to the ground.
“Watch the ribs!” You cried out as you wrestled with him.
He would flip you over and you’d knee him in the legs, you’d pin him to the ground, he’d throw you across the open field, it was a never ending tussle with him. You rolled around fighting until Bakugou slammed you down so hard your head spun.
“Wait.” You pushed on his chest to get him off of you and he relented.
“I still have my boots on.” You complained as you ripped them off.
Bakugou’s eyes widened at the ragged things. “Why don’t you have proper shoes?”
“Not all of us are money bags, Ka-Bakugou.” He rolled his eyes.

You spent the rest of the day fighting with your swords and eating lunch. When the sun started setting, Katsuki hiked through the woods to find sticks and logs to start a fire.
You had a small flint in you trousers’ pocket, so you used it to start a small fire.
“We should talk about the wedding…” you sighed.
“Yeah… when do you want it?” He asked gently, his voice hushed after hours of activity.
“I’ve always wanted an autumn wedding… but I suppose you should pick.”
Bakugou huffed and ripped of a piece of the bread. The loaf was bigger then your head and was definitely heavy, it could totally cover an entire cutting board. He used his hand to rip off a clump of cheese and resorted to chewing his food. “I don’t care about weddings… shit,” Bakugou sighed and rubbed his temples.
“What’s wrong?”
“Fucking Deku. I’m sure he’s gonna want us to get married in the castle. He thinks of me as he best friend or some shit, and I have no doubt he’s gonna want to talk to us both.”
Your eyes widened. Talk with King Midoriya? Why?
“Can we refuse? I want a quiet wedding in the woods if anything!” You started panicking, your breath becoming labored and you pulled off a large piece of bread and shoved it all into your mouth.
Bakugou watched the brazen display with fascination. He’d never met a woman quite like you, playful and funny, unashamed of being herself. “I’ll talk with the extra. I got you into this mess, I want you to at least enjoy your wedding.” He leaned back against the grass and sighed deeply. “I’m sorry. For getting you hitched to me. It’s a bad position for both of us and I regret it.”
You sighed and laid down on the cloud-like grass. The sky held white thunderheads that you watched peacefully roll past, singing a song of thunder and of the storm to come.
“We should probably get back to town.” You breathed out and stood, grabbing your sword and the basket of leftover food.
Bakugou nodded and picked up your skirt that had been thrown onto a boulder while you had both been rolling around.
“Where did you get these trousers?” He asked suddenly, pointing to your pants.
“Well, some of them were my fathers and some of them I stole from Eijiro’s chest.” You swung your sword back and forth and took the clothing from the tall man.
You tied the skirt onto your waist and continued walking towards the village.
— — —
When you got into town, it started raining. You and Bakugou ran as fast as you could to Kirishima’s Flower Shoppe, but didn’t make it there dry.
Katsuki stepped up to the threshold and opened the wooden framed, glass door. The bell jiggled peacefully as you both stepped inside.
That was the last of the peace before all of the Kirishima’s girls came running into the shop squealing and asking questions you couldn’t understand. They were too excited for there own good.
Mrs. Kirishima walked in and gently tapped her cane on the floor. Instantly, all the girls stopped herding around you both and left the room after saying their goodbyes.
Mrs. Kirishima gently grabbed your arm and walked up the stairs with you. You looked back at Katsuki and waved slightly. The big man grinned and saluted you.
You heard footsteps and Bakugou’s knights all saying their goodbyes. “Goodbye, everyone!” You called behind and trudged up the stairs with the older woman.
Mrs. Kirishima walked into your room and sat on a chest that was in the direct center on the floor.
“I had Eijiro’s friends bring this up here for you.” She patted the beautiful wood. “This is a hope chest. Usually you have your whole life to fill this up with your mother but… well, we’re doing this now. I’m going to help you buy and find things to add to this chest before you are to be wed. When you move into your new home, your hope chest will have almost everything you need to start your homemaking process!” She smiled calmly at you.
“Do the other girls have hope chests?” You were curious about the subject. You had heard of them but had never made one yourself… then again, you never really had a mother to help you with one.
“Oh, yes. I’ve been helping them collect for years, we keep the girl's chests in the storage room. I’m excited that you get to start this new chapter of your life,” she paused, “Will you let me help you turn the next page?”
“Yes.”
