"Not important now," the tall man responded, crossing his arms and locking his hip to once side in that indignant manner he always had, "Nor what I was asking of / What’s going on, Axton?" He stepped a little closer, leaning in to inspect the bruises more closely. Indeed, they looked quite bad and he had to agree; they wouldn’t be easy to cover up in the least, not unless he wore a few pounds of makeup.
And then, it’d just be too obvious.
In truth, Zer0 did care, for a few reasons. The first was a simple concern for his comrade; there were not his usual injuries. Bullet wounds, gashes, a few gashes; he could handle these things. Full on black eyes and thick bruises, however… that was different.
Secondly, he knew it would only be a matter of time before their Boss found out…
The Commando glared up and down the assassin, sucking his teeth. Boss asked him the same thing a few weeks ago. Sal asked the same thing few days ago. Now Zer0. Not only is it becoming annoying, it’s becoming suspicious. This wouldn't be the first time the Boss tried to send someone to make the Commando talk. Unfortunately for them, the battered soldier isn’t in a talkative mood nor will he ever be when it stemmed to his new hobby. “I can only say ‘nothing’ so many times before I get peeved bro. I already told Boss weeks ago, I'm gonna to be Moxxi’s errand boy for a bit til she gets a new carrier.” The lie was becoming stale and repetitive in the commando’s mouth. So many ways to say the same lie, and they’re all overused. No matter how dull it became, he had to stand his ground if he wanted to continue his new-found "hobby." Axton couldn’t exhibit his usual irksome behavior today. Whenever he clenched his jaw, it ached. Couldn’t take a deep sigh, his ribs jolted in a pinch of pain. All the veteran could do was glare and hope the assassin dropped the subject soon. “You know how Moxxi is. She makes enemies where ever she goes. People are bound to try to sabotage her shipments. She’s paying me to not let that happen.”
"You didn't really think / You could hide such injuries / From me, now did you...?" Zer0 asks, approaching Axton and taking his jaw in his three-fingered hands, making the former commando look into the painted skeleton eyes of his faceplate. Even past the darkness, it was clear that the assassin was scrutinizing Axton's newfound mystery injuries, and wondering with no amount of pity where the hell he'd gotten them. - vincent-eldritch
Axton growled at his mysterious friend. Trying to shake lose of his 4-fingered grip. The soldier’s jaw felt swollen and it hurt to chew. It especially hurt when some masked prick decided he felt the need to grip his face like a stress ball.
"Does it look like I’m trying to hide it man? Hiding a shiner like this, it’d take some cakey makeup like Moxxi’s to cover it up."
Swatting the ninja’s hand, the soldier freed his swollen jaw. An irritated glare remained on his face. This is the third person today who commented on Axton’s apparent bruise. Of all people, Zer0 was the last person he would’ve thought to have asked or much less care.
Axton had work to do but he didn’t dare roll up his sleeves before the ninja. Questioning one bruise was enough. Questioning three more wouldn’t leave the commando in peace.
"Whadda want anyway? I told ya your bike ain’t gonna be finished until Ellie mails me the parts I need. And before you ask, she hasn’t mailed em yet."
(Caught in the Shower Meme) The assassin stops and looks up, blinking behind his helmet. He seems awkwardly flustered for a moment as he tries to keep his eyes on Axton's upper body. "I-I apologize/I thought no one was in here/I'll j-just... get out now" he mumbles, turning to quickly leave, unable to keep the four lines that come across his HUD, an indication that the normally stoic assassin is likely blushing. - vincent-eldritch

Minding his own business, Axton massaged his hair with conditioner, humming a catchy tune he heard on the echonet. From under the sounds of running water, he heard something from across the bathroom. Axton jolted his drenched head toward the sound, spotting a lanky man in leather pants and a bright red helmet with the door wide open.Almost slipping in the shower, he struggled with keeping his balance as he tried to cover his lower body with his hands. Of all people the Commando thought would peep on him, Zer0 must’ve been the lowest on the list. More annoyed than embarrassed with his bangs stuck to his face, Axton turned his body away from Zer0, hoping he would figure out the obvious.“ZER0. WHAT. THE. HELL. MAN?!?! Can’t you READ? Can’t you KNOCK?! Get. The. Fuck. OUT!”

Tasking Zer0 and Axton to going to Caustic Caverns was probably a bad idea. Sir Hammerlock just HAD to know about Crystalisks. Those guys are assholes, any moron would know that. Zer0 took a bad hit while in “Decepti0n” he calls it. Dumbass. Running back to the Fast-Travels was a pain in the ass, a shit ton of Varkids at their feet whilst carrying a bleeding scrawny idiot. For once, Axton had to throw in the 2nd turret to get them distracted.Sadly the Boss was on a different run than Zer0 & him, something about Sawtooth Cauldron. Back at the shop, they sat on the couch while prepping. It’s been a while since Axton had to patch up someone the old-fashion way. Cauterize wounds and stitching up cuts, just like old times. Zer0 grunted every now and then as Axton stitched his final wound. “Sorry man,” Axton whispered to Zer0. “I’m almost done I swear…”They sat on the couch silently once Axton finished his “touch-ups” with Zer0. Zer0 was silent, stiff, couldn’t tell whether he was breathing. Maybe he sleeps sitting up, Zer0 is kinda weird. Axton simply continued reading his book, ignoring the still person sitting next him. There was a bit of shifting on the couch, then just a soft thump. Axton looks down from his book, and notices Zer0’s head laying there. On his lap. Is he dead? Flabbergasted, all Axton did was rest his hand against Zer0’s scratched helmet. “I’m pretty sure he’s asleep,” he thought to himself. “Totallyyyyy asleep. Right? RIGHT?”
Happy Halloween! - Zer0
“Ahhhh. Finally, no more of those snot nose kids coming.” Axton blissfully sighed while making his way to the living room. After hours of handling kids in costumes demanding candy, it becomes a hindrance. The couch sounded so good right about now, despite all the duct tape on the cushions and arm rests. Some of the cotton still stuck out of the seating. But today, the duct tape and cotton sticking out sounded incredibly comfortable. Axton let himself fall to the couch, you can hear the air escaping from the side of the duct tape. He sighed along with the air escaping from the tape in unison, “This has never felt this comfortable before,” Axton yawned while putting his hands behind his head. It doesn’t take a second for him to quickly doze off.
As he took his last big sigh, a sudden knock echoed in the house. “EHHHHHHHHHH,” Axton whined, “No more. Maybe if I don’t do anything, they’ll get bored and leave,” he wishes under his breath. Sadly, another set of knocks bammed on the door. “UGGGHHHHHHHHHH. Stop. No.” Another set of knocks haunted him. “ARGGGHHHHHHHHH!” Axton’s hand left the back of his head and slammed them against the beat-up couch, and stormed to the door while ranting. “Swear to God, if those little shits from up the street TP the house again this year, it’s fucking on.” He swings the door violently with an exhausted glare on his face. Unfortunately, Axton’s glare went to waste realizing the one doing the annoying knocking was a familiar face. “Oh, Zer0. Ugh, why are you knocking on my front door, pissing me off when you could’ve gone through the back door? You know I hardly lock that shitty door!”
