1. Your first OC ever?

I would have to say Donovan Shaw from my original co-authorered series Life is Precious. He’s really quite the character in terms of personality. A true “Shaw-vanist.”

2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs?

It’s hard to say now. Before I started developing other LiP characters, Shaw would be -- hands down -- #1. My favorites change a lot, especially in favor of those who have a more completed story. I’m going to have to go with Vince the Wanderer. He was originally supposed to have a minor role in the story as that sidekick, but now he managed to land a spot as one of the main characters in the several protagonist pairs of the series. 

3. Have you ever adopted a character or gotten a character from someone else?

I haven’t at all. The OCs I have from LiP are really my first ones. I don’t think I would enjoy adopting a character either mostly due to the fact that the amount of detail I put into creating each and every single person in the LiP world with my co-author. Even if the character has an absolutely minor role, be sure to know that their whole background with trivial information will be fleshed out. I have a list of what the main characters might like or dislike. It’s all extraneous but my goal is to make characters that can stand without their actual book, that they are a person regardless of where they go.

4. A character you rarely talk about?

Aside from the main antagonists in the works, it would be Zhao Yen. Zhao Yen is independent from the main cast and has a completely different journey. His is of redemption and finding his way back home. He was exiled by his people, who have rediscovered flight and magnetism. They sent him to the land below where the rest of the cast are and his task is find his own way back. In other words, from the skies, they “grounded” him. Zhao Yen doesn’t get that much opportunity, because he’s not a priority. I still need to figure out the main cast first.

5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be?

This is not a fair question, because I love all of my babies, but I’m going to have to go with Miss Silvia Sinclair ( ladyofarcen ). She’s so “normal” in a place where everything is so “magical.” Her story is similar to that of a “coming of age” one where she finds herself confronting reality after stepping out of paradise. Her path that I have yet to make concrete is one of my favorites with how raw it can be. Anyways, she is also my current focus as far as character projects go. I mean, she named her yellow canary “Duck.” How cute can she get?If this question gave me a character pair, it would be Vince and Mira in a heart beat. They’re the driving force of LiP, I feel.

On her doorstep laid a weathered packaged nestled against the wood. Upon searching its contents, she would find another box awaiting. A small bow kept the box tightly sealed. Tucked under the ribbon though rested a blank tag, save for a intricately carved diamond triad.

There were only a few pieces of chocolates sitting in their golden compartments, but they were enough to sate the sweet tooth for the time being.

Accepting a gift involved a rather elaborate ruse, but Fina fathomed that the diamond insignia assured quality worth the effort. A convoluted effort involved feigned reluctant acceptance, inspection, disposal, and subsequent retrieval before the woman returned to her quarters with the prize.

Her reward was not gold but something just as valuable and infinitely more satisfying. Eight heart-shaped chocolates sat in their gilded compartments, colored gold by no means she was familiar with. A mischievous smile played upon her lips as she lifted one treat from it's golden cage to be encased in her own auric stare. Idle fascination questioned the details of the chocolatier's work, but she had no patience to indulge such fancies for long. Quickly, past lips and upon her palate the gift dissolved.

Fina moaned in content satisfaction as she replaced the gift's cover, chuckling as she did so. Of course, there was only one man who knew how to deliver sweets as sweet as he was, and she considered it fair recompense for the sugar gifted to him some time ago.

Basking in taste and texture, the Seraph pondered her most treasured gift, a moment's respite from treachery and skullduggery, and laughed aloud.

"In my life, I am lucky to  have three fathers and two mothers simultaneously! My biological mother and father encourage my independence from Spero's Embassy. Vince watches over me wherever I travel, but he seems to be content to leave me to my own devices at the moment. In Piltover, Jayce and Caitlyn are my mother and father! I am happy to have such a large family!"

The Lady of Arcen

The world rocked, first tilting from the left and then lurching to the right. Soon enough, the blue sky above turned to a face full of sand. Thin legs were thrust out with arms outstretched, yanking hard and desperately for the blue cloak within reach. A high pitched yawp sounded and down Miss Silvia Sinclair went into the wood pier with a thud.

"Whoa there!" a deep voice bellowed from above the girl, as a large shadow engulfed her miserable form, "Silvia, are you alright?" The Wanderer bent down, chuckling at the girl, who was quick to latch onto her helping wall. He gently lifted the young miss to her feet. "A little motion sick?"

"A little… is an understatement, Vince…" Silvia groaned and held her head. It ached with a dull throb along with the rest of her. Her arms and legs were tensed and weary from travel. Her little trip only made things worse. She just made a fool of herself in front of all these people. Her cheeks were flushed from sickness and embarrassment.

As if reading her thoughts, the Wanderer rubbed her back. He spoke softly, "Do not worry. No one is watching. At least the worst is over. We have arrived."

She hiccuped in response, reorienting herself, "Thanks, Vince." The young lady brushed her copper brown hair out of her face with a huff, dusting herself. Turning her attention from the piers to the cityscape just beyond the green banks, her jaw dropped in awe at the white structures gleaming in the midday sun. 

"This is Piltover?"

"Welcome to Piltover, Lady of Arcen. "

"Serafina…" the large man ducked his head on the way in. One heavy boot after another, he entered the den and leaned against the doorframe. A wide smile was etched on his face, "Happy New Year."

The vixen displayed her false smile, but her honey laughter rang true through its hollow form. Those welcome in her den, few and far in between, drew no ill will from the fox, and she laid her claws down. With a chuckle, the woman turned at the sound of her name with arms hidden in the depths of her hood.

Even without armed paws, the sly creature still bore fangs and a quick motion sent a weighted object hurtling at the heavy man. Glimmering gold and porcelain flew to his chest as the angel followed in its wake. Serafina bared a toothy grin as a finger tapped lightly against Vince’s chin.

"Happy New Year’s, Snowman… Where’s your little snow rabbit? I thought she was always with you during days like these. Well… no matter. What brings you to a den of lies on the eve of a fresh start, hm? Little old me?"

She laughed, clear and sultry before fixing her attention on the festivities outside. Fireworks and fiery passion rose up from the streets below as her glittering golden spheres watched from above. At the very least, even one of her own kind found someone to share the moment with.

Giving Thanks and Taking Note

"Vince? Was there not once an old tradition where a day was reserved for appreciating what we are fortunate to have in life? I wonder why there are not many such days in other culture, because I find that there are many things to be thankful for!

"I am thankful that I have had the privilege to have been raised in Spero, to have met you, and to have been able to travel the world. I am also grateful for the simple pleasures of being able to choose what I can eat and when, being able to sleep and learn in a comfortable home, and--most of all--being able to feel safe where I am, here with you and everyone else...

"Despite the numerous aspects of my life I am grateful for, I know that there are innumerable more people who do not have these luxuries and bare necessities. I hope that what we do as we travel will one day assure everyone these little things that we enjoy, but I also wish that everyone could be aware of the hardships others must endure as an accident of their birth. I love you and everyone, Vince... Thank you..."
