I love to entertain the idea that Vincent loves Dante in his tvDan+pre-DMC2 era. A sort of companion that tragically passed away due to unfortunate events, but not before leaving a mark on life and Dante. He loves the strange man that Dante is and find his unsettling quirks charming to a fault. And Dante loves Vincent's companionship in a way it had almost filled the void in his heart. Someone who was so fixated on him and dragging him along in his life. A sorta companionship he was forced into yet he didn't hate it. A strange life that wasn't his own, with cheap dinner, regular labour and racing. Indeed a more luxurious life than that he had as Tony back in the day. Dante wasn't committed to such generic life no but deep down, he wished it was his too. But to live in a calm life is to forsaken his identity and his duty as a protector. The blood that shall never be cleansed off his hand. He couldn't have such dream. In the end, Vincent is a fragile human and Dante is the acursed son of Sparda.
Even so
