for the ask thing could you give your take on stuart skinner/vincent desharnais? (apologies if you’ve written them before !!)

Full disclosure I did write a tiny vinnyskinny ficlet, but I don’t think it counted 😉

The more I learn about their lore, the more I think their story has to be friends to lovers arc. They’ve played together forever, they lived together, they’ve seen each other at their lowest when they thought they were never gonna make it.

At some point that relationship of being fully comfortable together, being the only two guys who really know each other when you’re changing teams and struggling to find your place, would naturally shift into being comfortable taking care of each other physically, you know? And maybe it feels like just a natural extension of the friendship, like neither one would think of it as dating. But they also both stop picking up, because it’s just so much easier to count on the sure thing being each other at the end of the night.

I think you’d have to have some moment of realization that there’s feelings involved. Could be angsty and go with Vinny not getting re-signed, or could ignore that and maybe focus on something about the awful start to the season. Stu’s stressed beyond one or two bad games, and maybe he calls things off, trying to focus on his game. Or maybe he needs Vinny more than ever, trying to lose himself in the physical relationship.

But I think Vinny realizes he has feelings first, and then has to go through the angst of wondering if it’s worth it to ever act on them and push for more, or if it would ruin everything they have together already.
