Party season is coming up and for my first post on partywear we’re looking at vintage pieces. Now we all hate that dreaded moment when you walk into a room and you see a replica of your dress on one of the other guests. Even worse if it’s the host! With vintage, you are pretty much guaranteed to be totally unique and often the talking point as everyone will be asking where you got your amazing dress! The one thing about buying vintage is to know your measurements and not rely on the size as it doesn’t guarantee fit. There are plenty of websites that cater for ALL sizes too, so vintage dressing is not just for size 8s. Try @etsyuk, @depop and @ebay_uk for a great selection. If you’re after a specific piece get to know your local vintage store owner and let them know what you’re after. They can keep a look out and let you know if anything comes in that they think you might like. If you’re new to vintage, ease yourself in by mixing it up with modern pieces. Maybe wear an 80s dress with ultra modern killer heels. Or vice versa and opt for vintage accessories instead! A huge plus side of wearing vintage is the sustainability aspect. You’re wearing something preloved that has a back story. And you have saved another piece of clothing from going to landfill. Now that has to be worth it.
