Black Sabbath – Heaven And Hell Vertigo – 9102 752 1980
Metal Saturday just went to 11. I'm currently on about hour 25 of my 100 hour review of the Soundsmith SMMC3 moving iron cartridge, today's the metal test so I'll be making gear notes on my posts. Initial impression is that it handles metal really well, offering plenty of molecule moving bass and meaty mids. Blasting the volume only revealed just how dynamic it sounds. My biggest complaint about the Nagaoka MP-200 (full review forthcoming, working on it) was that it produced a bass response that favored a leaner, more precise presentation. It lacked a bit of meat and fat, a good steak needs it all. No such complaints here. Very musical and dynamic soundstage. More metal gear notes for the SMMC3 upcoming, the 100 hour audition just got real. SoundSmith have provided VJ with the cartridge for review. The no bullshit review style will remain, honest and forthright as I can be, community first.
