Between 1880s and 1920 the site for the current bus station was bought by the proprietor of the Newdigate Arms, T.J Lilley. He put a running track, a football and Rugby pitch on it. These images are inspired by that history. During this time the first boy to be capped to play Rugby for England against Wales, was Francis Mingar from Nuneaton.
