Release Year on Jacket: 1996 (this reissue 2016)
B1 – Get Your Groove On [it takes a bit but opens up to a great funky jam]

G2 – The Holy River [the solo makes this song]
J2 – La La La Means I Love You
This isn’t an album I usually listen to, mainly because from start to finish it is 3 hours long. It didn’t feel like 3 hours thankfully. Originally, I wanted Rainbow Children to be the album I listened to today, but it has been delayed until June now. This was Prince's first release after breaking from WB. You can see all of the influences and styles he wanted to explore but wasn’t able to because of the studio pressure. This album has a ton of good music, but it also has some music that I'm embarrassed to admit he recorded. The larger band sound that he would explore more in the years after this is very present. The horns are great. The grooves as always are excellent but that is expected. Even though this was way too long it was a great palette cleanse to start of the next phase of his career. I am most thankful that even though Prince left this planet at such an early age he left us so much great music that many generations past ours will still get to appreciate him. This is a good listen. Be safe everyone.
Don't take my word for it listen for yourself and tell me what you think.
