No literally what if you were a little boy who's always been weak and always been scared and then horrible things happen to you and it isnt your fault, you're just weak and sweet and easy to hurt, and so people hurt you and take from you and you can't fight back then then. You find this entity that's thousands of years old and it's so powerful it can easily kill everyone who wants to hurt you. You've gone through all this pain and there's a beautiful powerful monster that can make it all stop, you don't even have to ask. And it stays close to you and lives all curled up in your shadow and you can't get separated and sure people who hurt you go missing sometimes or die in horrible ways but it isn't YOUR fault. And every night it stays with you and slowly you start converging . As you get more scary it gets more human until you meet in the middle for one blissful moment
