If Rance had really been able to, he would have loved to take Tari somewhere really fancy for their date. But they were limited to the choices in town, so Country Roads had ended up being it. "Sorry we couldn't go somewhere a li'l more swanky," he said, as he pulled out Tari's chair for her, "Hope th' comp'ny will make up for it."
Though in truth, he was actually more concerned about that than the food. He was thrilled to be going out with Tari, but at the same time, Rance hoped he lived up to her expectations. Yes she had liked him before he had even known about it, and she had been around him for plenty of his less-than-decorous moments. But now everything was out in the open, and he just hoped he could be the man that she wanted, and more importantly, deserved.
Having helped Tari get seated, Rance sat down across from her, finding himself fiddling with the bolo tie he had worn for the occasion as he debated what to say. Trying to make small talk about work seemed silly, but he really was not sure where else to start. "So, uh, did you hear that guy who came into th' store th' other day claimin' he shot one o' th' ghosts? What a bunch o' bull, huh?"
