What happened
TW: Car crash, blood mention. Paloma woke up feeling a sting on her arm, looking around she realized what had happened. The woman jumped up at once calling Max by his name. As soon as she saw him Paloma started running. Max was still in the car, or what was left of it. Still shouting, with tear streaks making fresh paths through her blood and dirt covered face, Paloma dashed to the car and tried to wake him up, shout him awake, she could barely touch him let alone help him get out. Paloma doesn't remember the next few minutes or maybe hours clearly, the adrenaline in her had helped her run as fast as possible without feeling her injuries. The woman ran till she saw the Huntsville sign, as soon as she could see the outline of buildings she started to shout for help. Paloma didn't get far into town though she couldn't tell why, but she needed to get back, see if Max was okay, right that moment. But the longer she ran the more her heart sunk. It took her exhausted mind hours before she collapsed crying, still on the side of the same damn road.
Before
Paloma was born to immigrant parents who had only moved to Uvalde a year ago before she was born. She doesn't remember that much about Texas but she remembers summers spent back in Mexico with her parents and their families. But the visits to her relatives became far and few as she grew older. When Paloma was 13 years old both her parents died in a car accident, the girl moved to a small town near Tallahassee to be with her mother's sister. As her aunt was a nun Paloma was allowed to live with her in the nunnery. That was part of the reason why after school Paloma join the nunnery and started her training as a nun. But the devoted life was short lived as she got closer to one of her best friends from high school. Both of them were clearly attracted to one another and once her aunt learnt of Paloma and her friend sneaking around she banished the young woman from the nunnery. Paloma felt relief when her aunt caught her, she had doubts about her calling. The young woman found her own place and started to explore her sexuality and what the life had to offer to her. This lead her into taking a job at an adult's club as a bartender. After a few years as she got bolder she would cover for some of the dancers there. Paloma was content with her life, with best friends and fake soul mate, lovely coffee dates and sweaty club dancing. She was happy, and then she met Max, he was charming, witty, serious. Both of them felt the attraction form the get go. After a month they were living together, after two they were planning to ditch everything and travel around the country. No plan, no worries, just them. They started their journey soon after taking turns driving, sleeping underneath the stars, singing along to their favorite tunes, stealing glances at each other with the wind in their hair. Loving life, adoring one another. Until the crash.
Now
TW: Miscarriage, death assumption. It's been almost 2 years since Paloma first crossed that border. She started her 'new life' living in the commune, she had someone, who know who explain her the sigils on the door, she didn't much care for it. First few days Paloma felt numb, kept hoping someone will wake her up, this was all just a misunderstanding. What was even more concerning to her was the growing feeling that something was wrong. Paloma hadn't seen a doctor after the accident. When after about a week or so she finally went to see one she pretty much knew what they are going to say. Paloma was pregnant at the time of the accident. The doctor spared her the news that it wasn't the accident that lead to her miscarriage but the lack of treatment to the wounds and added stress. During the first year of living in Huntsville Paloma was a shadow version of herself, she lived in the commune, picked up helping hunters as a way to channel her feelings. After going through many stages of denial and acceptance Paloma started easing into life here, getting to know people around, exploring the location she's stuck in. There's still many people in town who'd think she'd just came to Huntsville, Paloma doesn't correct them and avoids talking about the accident. Paloma still feels incredible guilty for leaving Max alone, even worse knowing she might have left him to die alone. Now she has left the commune to tread her own path through this, she got a small apartment for herself and started working as a cashier at 7-eleven to maintain some normality. People can often see her reading a magazine while on shift or having her morning run in the park. Paloma is determined to make the best of this, but don't think for a second that she wants to stay here forever.

Wanted Connections
i've seen you somewhere before - past clients form when she was working at the strip club in tallahassee we can work the dynamics could be a regular or someone traveling past florida, maybe someone form other cities too as she'd do parties too. bonus point for an old boss who might feel a bit possessive about 'one of their girls'
you lift me up - people paloma meets when going to the gym, these can vary from general acquaintances to friends that constantly chat while working out.
paz y amor - people paloma teaches yoga to, can vary from friends to just acquaintances who'd heard about it and come join.
in another life - someone form way back when she lived in uvalde or that would know her from her summers spent in mexico. an old friend they severed ties after her parents died.
you should be ashamed - someone who'd known max, her ex bf that died in a car accident as they got here. paloma knows little to nothing about him before they met so this could be max's actual partner or someone who blames paloma for his death. bonus points for max's old business partner as he was actually a pretty shady dude.
keep on driving - the person who found paloma after she came into town. they would have to have a vehicle and probably were the ones that at least vaguely explained what's what with this town.
