Minerva wasn’t a bad girlfriend to Violet. The only toxic thing about Vinerva was Violet herself
People like to say Minerva was a bad girlfriend when there's literally NO evidence proving it. Apparently, a lot of people look at Minerva's actions towards Violet in the woods & on the bridge, using them as the basis for this poorly defined belief. When Minerva met Violet again for the first time in a year, they were already broken up(even if unofficially). Violet moved on & started dating Clementine. Anything that Minerva did to Violet after this doesn't make her a bad girlfriend because they weren't even dating when those things happened.
And even then, Minerva wasn't quite herself to begin with. If Minerva was a neglectful & toxic girlfriend, the game would've hinted that. I've seen people argue "Violet tells Clementine she always wanted to dance with someone she loved but never did, & Minerva spoke poorly of Violet when she found out she was leading the school, so she was neglectful", yet don't even know who Minerva was before she got taken.
Violet herself, the girl people stan to death, stated the Minerva she & Clementine met in the woods WASN’T the same Minerva she lost a year ago. Not only that, but no one knows how long Minerva & Violet had been dating for. To say Minerva was neglectful for not dancing with Violet, when she could barely even ask Clementine to dance with her, let alone talk to her without trouble, is foolish. And before she asked, losing Minerva probably made her realize that she shouldn't wait for the opportunity to pass again.
If anyone was toxic, it was Violet. She is easily the most introverted & insociable person at Ericson’s, who was quite the bitch autonomously. Just look at how she spoke to Clementine and Brody. Before Violet discovered Minerva hadn’t actually been eaten by walkers the day she went hunting with Brody, Violet begrudged her for a whole year over something she couldn’t help. She would make snide, sarcastic remarks whenever Brody spoke, and talked about her behind her back.
Violet had already been this way, even before Minerva got taken. When Clementine tells Minerva Violet runs the school, she replies “The Violet I knew could barely stand to look at people, let alone play class president”, proving this was who Violet was. Knowing this, how could Minnie have been toxic for remembering Violet the same way she was when we first met her?
