Virginia Leith (1925 - 2019) was the Ohio born model turned actress that was introduced to the world by Stanley Kubrick. Kubrick met the model in the early 50s shooting her for the cover of LOOK Magazine. In 1953 Kubrick chose her as his female lead in his self-financed anti-war thriller FEAR AND DESIRE. The movie was received with moderately positive reviews however Kubrick would later destroy the original negative and disavowing the film calling it "a bumbling amateur film exercise". This would lead Virginia to sign a contract with 20th Century Fox taking on lead roles in ON THE THRESHOLD OF SPACE, TOWARD THE UNKNOWN, VIOLENT SATURDAY, A KISS BEFORE DYING and a number of other roles. 🎞 Virginia would leave showbusiness in the early 60s after her marriage to Candian actor Dan Harron. After her divorce in the 70s she would return to the screen in shows like STARSKY AND HUTCH, POLICE WOMAN, BARETTA, and BARNABY JONES.
