Based out of the incubation centre of #GanpatUniversity in Mehsana district of Gujarat, fotonVR facilitates practical experiments in the virtual world.

Knowledge Tokens

The Immersive Education Initiative (iED) created the Knowledge Token TM (or “Knowkens” TM) in 2014 as a feature of their “Learn to Earn” program and associated Global Education Scholarship (http://immersiveeducation.org/LearnToEarn). Knowkens TM are a type of digital currency recognized by the iED that can be used by conference goers to purchase a wide array of items--everything from Minecraft accounts to Virtual Reality technology and certification programs to camps! Knowkens TM are awarded to participants in exchange for their engagement with various exciting conference exhibits. 

To show the Knowkens TM in actin, we can look to their first use: in iED’s successful IMMERSE ITALY Immersive Education conference in Lucca, Italy in November 2017 (http://immersiveeducation.org/news/2017/11/14/knowledge-tokens-announced-immersive-italy-2017). There, the first 300 participants were awarded up to 60 Euro or Dollars in Knowkens TM each in exchange for interacting with a particular immersive exhibit at the venue. The applications fro the Knowledge Token TM are endless. I could see the tokens being used to incentivize students to engage more with cultural institutions like museums. I could also envision the tokens being used to stimulate marketing engagement with new products wherein potential customers received tokens for testing new products and/or experiences.

Apple wants to have a standalone augmented reality headset ready for use by 2019, according to a new report from Bloomberg. • According to Bloomberg, the planned AR headset would have its own display, a new chip, and a specially-designed operating system, currently referred to internally as “rOS” or “reality operating system.” Apple’s engineers are reportedly exploring a number of ways users might control the headset, including head gestures, touch panels, and voice control via Siri. • With prototype headsets still in the works, though, Apple’s designers are said to be using HTC Vive VR headsets to test the limitations and potential of AR.
