SHE HOLDS THE DOOR FOR HIM, leading him through the small convenience store and up the stairs in the back. the store was dimly lit since it was closed for a few days — her father out of town visiting family. kiga took this as a perfect opportunity to attempt making dabi an actual homecooked meal. he’d done a lot for her and really was like an older brother. making sure he ate was the least she could do.
she placed the bags of groceries on the counter, moving to flick the lights of the apartment on. it was small but cozy, nice and clean. it was the place she grew up so kiga felt herself grow a little stiff being back in the walls ; there was a lot of trauma here.
‘ well, what would you like to eat? i’m not a very good cook but i’ll do my best! ’ she cheers, quietly putting the groceries away where they belonged. the walls were scattered with pictures of her family — some of just kigata then some with her parents. in ever single one she was in with her mother, kigata looked distraught. ‘ i think dad has some beer in the fridge . . . if you like that stuff. ’
